James Suckling (93-94)A dense, flavorful red with blackberry and black-olive character. It’s medium-to full-bodied with chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Chewy and solid. Better than the 2018? |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91-93)The 2021 La Tour Carnet is another gorgeous wine in this range from Bernard Magrez. Deeply pitched spice notes meld into a core of red plum/cherry fruit, followed by brighter, high-toned floral accents that add lift. La Tour Carnet has a track record of aging quite well. I suspect that will be the case here as well. La Tour Carnet remains one of the most under the radar wines in all of Bordeaux. Tasted four times. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (88)The 2019 Les Pensées de La Tour Carnet feels a little closed and stubborn on the nose and needs more fruit expression. The palate is more expressive and easygoing, offering pliant tannins, well-judged acidity and nicely integrated oak toward the finish. Just give it 12–18 months for the aromatics to shift up a gear. |
