Grand Puy Lacoste

James Suckling (96-97)
This full-bodied red builds on the palate in a fantastic way with tight, compact tannins that grow and grow on the finish. Plenty of blackcurrant and graphite character and a flavorful finish. Same level as the excellent 2016.Inc. GSTSG$579.29 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94-96)
The 2021 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is fabulous. Bright and punchy, with terrific aromatic presence, the 2021 is a terrific example of the modern classicism of the year at its best. It's the sort of wine that needs years or maybe even decades to truly blossom, and yet all the requisites are there for that to happen. There is something about Grand-Puy-Lacoste that is absolutely striking in 2021. I can't wait to taste it from bottle. Tasted two times.Inc. GSTSG$943.29 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (96-98)
The 2022 Grand Puy Lacoste was picked from 7 to 23 September and contains more Merlot due to the high quality of the fruit, matured in 75% new oak. There is 14.2% alcohol. Therefore, this lends this GPL a little more precocity and sensuality compared to other vintages, not cut from the same "classical" cloth as, say, the 2019 or 2020. Underlying this velvety veneer are enticing traits of freshly-rolled tobacco and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-sculpted tannins. Silky smooth in texture, so much so that it belies that backbone underneath. There is a peacock's tail of mineral-rich, quite peppery black fruit on the finish, completing a Pauillac endowed with huge potential.Inc. GSTSG$725.29 -

James Suckling (95-96)
I am thinking about the purity of fruit here, with blackcurrants, cassis and lead pencil. There's an underlying character of mineral and flint. The palate is dense, focused and precise, with very fine tannins that are ultra-fine and layered and go vertically down the palate. Everything is in the right place. So much polish and a svelte nature. Then hints of hazelnut and walnut to the refined texture. Sophisticated. 58% cabernet sauvignon, 34% merlot, 4% cabernet franc and 4% petit verdot.Expected Price RangeSG$973 - SG$1,155 -

Lacoste-Borie is the second wine of Pauillac fifth growth Grand-Puy-Lacoste. While the 2010 grand vins are not yet in their drinking window, this will fit the bill. The nose has nicely defined cedar and black pepper with hints of struck match and bacon. The palate has softened out wonderfully, but retains structural liquorice and cocoa-infused tannins. There is a succulent black fruit edge, with savoury hints of tobacco and some herbaceousness behind.Inc. GSTSG$1,048.49 -

Soft and silky second wine of Grand Puy Lacost. Medium to full body, juicy fruit and a velvety tannic finish.Inc. GSTSG$961.29 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (90)
The 2020 Lacoste-Borie, which comes in a new label, has an attractive nose with black fruit, pencil shavings and light minty aromas that remain in the background. Fine delineation, though not powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins on the entry, a mixture of red and black fruit, hints of brine and cracked black pepper with an easygoing, seaweed-tinged finish that suggests this will just require a couple of years in bottle.Inc. GSTSG$504.13 -
James Suckling (92-93)
Perfumed and nicely polished second wine of Grand-Puy-Lacoste with pretty sandalwood, blackberry and currant notes. Some fresh herbs and mocha, too. Nicely framed with fleshy tannins. 56% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot and 8% cabernet franc.Inc. GSTSG$468.05
