    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)

The 2014 La Fleur de Boüard is still in barrel, but it is shaping up to be a terrific wine. Dark, sumptuous and inviting, with soft contours, the 2014 is an excellent choice for drinking over the near and medium term. Succulent red cherry, plum, rose petal, mint and dried flowers are all pushed forward in this gloriously ripe, voluptuous Lalande-de-Pomerol. Tasted two times.

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)

The 2019 La Fleur de Boüard is gorgeous. Sweet floral and spice top notes meld into a core of red/purplish fruit, blood orange, menthol, spice and cedar. Creamy and open-knit, with lovely perfume and fine balance, the 2019 Le Plus is impressive, not to mention a real charmer. In a second tasting it was even more exotic and sexy.

Take that quality and add additional layers of concentration, power, extract and wood, and you have the 2009 La Plus de La Fleur de Bouard. Only about 500 cases of this 100% Merlot are made. With notes of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with graphite and spring flowers, this wine is absolutely massive and not for everybody, but it is an example of what a conscientious and driven producer pushing the envelope can do in a satellite appellation such as Lalande de Pomerol. Moreover, I suspect it will last for at least two decades.

    Wine Advocate (94+)

Made from 100% Merlot cropped at minuscule yields of 20 hectoliters per hectare, the 2010 La Plus de La Fleur de Bouard was bottled unfined and unfiltered and came in at 14.5% natural alcohol. This wine ratchets up the level of extract, power, density and richness as well as tannin, so it needs 3-4 years of cellaring and can keep, I would assume, for up to two decades, given the performance of the 2000 in recent tastings I have done. This is a beauty, a full-throttle, pedal-to-the-metal Lalande de Pomerol that is impossible to believe comes from a less heralded appellation.

    Wine Advocate (93-95+)

Not yet in bottle, the 2012 Le Plus, which is also called Cuvée Oscar, is one of those profound wines that exceeds all realistic parameters for what’s expected from this appellation. Inky purple in color, with stunning blackberry, blueberry and raspberry fruit notes, licorice, as well as graphite and spring flowers, the wine is opulent, full-bodied, massively concentrated and a tour de force from an obsessed genius of Bordeaux. It should drink well for 20 or more years.

Licorice, espresso bean and plum liqueur create the aroma. On the palate the wine is voluptuous, polished and showy, finishing with sweet, ripe, black fruits. 91-93 Pts
