Perched on Saint-Émilion's famous plateau, Château de Pressac owns 41 ha of vineyards overlooking the Dordogne River valley. The diversity of soil and sun exposure around the château here permits the growing of multiple grape varieties. De Pressac has the ability to reflect each soil and terroir's specificities, and hence is the only Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé today that grows all six indigenous Bordeaux varietals in the appellation.

A complex, mesmerizing wine, Pressac offers up an exotic mélange of black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and menthol. All the elements are so well balanced. Espresso,, lavender, dried rose petal and cedar linger on the complex, beautifully delineated finish. The 2019 is seriously impressive. It's as simple as that. |

Despite all its richness and depth, it holds onto a wonderful sense of freshness and minerality, and I suspect this will evolve gracefully for 20+ years in cold cellars. It needs an hour in a decanter if drinking anytime soon. |
