The 2016 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru consists of two barrels this year. It has a much more powerful and intense bouquet than the more saturnine Chapelle-Chambertin, sprinting out of the blocks with wild strawberry, cranberry and crushed violet aromas. This wants and frankly deserves attention. The palate is beautifully balanced with filigree tannin, perfectly judged acidity, spicier than the Chapelle-Chambertin with a little more depth and brio toward the finish. This is an outstanding Griotte-Chambertin surfeit with flair and flamboyance, the kind of grand cru that struts into a room and says: let's get this party started.Inc. GSTSG$2,583.19 -

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Villages is superb, unfurling in the glass with a youthful bouquet of sweet cassis, wild berries and peony that mingles with subtle hints of candied peel, grilled meat and rich forest floor. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, pure and velvety, structured around a chassis of fine-grained tannins that will demand some bottle age, underpinned by bright acids and concluding with a strikingly fragrant finish. It's a beautiful wine that exemplifies the fragrant, precise style that Bertrand Dugat and his siblings are coaxing from their family's enviable patrimony of old and meticulously farmed vines.Inc.
