Scented, red fruited, open. Then as it opens in the glass, it seems to become darker and more minerally, with stony finesse even with all this fruit. Lots of tension on the palate, partly from the freshness and partly from the tannins, which are dry and extremely fine. A caress with a firm hand. Then sweet again on the finish. On the finish this is long but seemingly gentle.Inc. GSTSG$8,470.91 -

The 2018 Meursault Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru has a clean and precise bouquet. Understated at first, it opens with crushed rock, white flowers and touches of citrus fruit. It appears to build in intensity. The palate is quite oaky on the entry, although that should be subsumed with time. Good substance, slightly reductive, yet judiciously spiced with ample depth on the satisfying finish. Great potential. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.Inc. GSTSG$760.23 -

The 2018 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is very harmonious on the nose. Yellow flowers, Japanese yuzu, quince and orange zest open with aeration whilst maintaining superb focus. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with a welcome bitter lemon note that upholds tension and salinity on the finish. I like where this Perrières is going - one to watch. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.Inc. GSTSG$2,367.39 -
An exquisite embodiment of the world-renowned Chardonnay grape, the Esprit Leflaive Pouilly-Fuisse 2018 encapsulates the very essence of Burgundy, France. This wine is a testament to the masterful blending techniques of Olivier Leflaive, known for creating wines that skillfully dance between vivacity and latitude. Handpicked grapes are vinified and matured for 12 months on lees in stainless steel vats, conferring this wine with its impeccable purity and richness.
The Esprit Leflaive Pouilly-Fuisse 2018 delights connoisseurs with notes of ripe peach, acacia blossom, and subtle minerality on the nose. The palate is elegantly textured, unveiling delicate hints of white fruits and toasted almond before revealing a refined, lingering finish. This extraordinary wine, with an optimal ageing potential of 5 to 10 years, is an undeniable reflection of the exceptional terroir where its grapes are meticulously grown. My favorite premier cru in the range this year is the 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux, a lovely wine that wafts from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, green apple, pear, oyster shell and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, taut and structured, with fine concentration and chalky extract, it concludes with a mouthwateringly saline finish.Inc. GSTSG$9,077.48 -

Pale colour with green tints, very fresh, there is even a little bit of noble reduction. The 2018 Forêts delivers an absolutely scintillating, crystalline purity. There is impressive weight on the palate, balanced by a refreshing greener element to the fruit.Inc. GSTSG$3,773.01 -

The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with notes of crisp green apple, white flowers, fresh bread, iodine and oyster shell. Full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with chalky extract and tangy acids, it's one of the cooler, more tensile wines in the range and stands out as a particular highlight.Inc. GSTSG$8,656.21
