Vinous (94)Bright, deep red. Musky aromas and flavors of raspberry, red cherry, licorice, herbs and mocha. Silky-sweet and deep, with terrific herbal and sweet spice lift contributing to the wine's superb inner-mouth tension and focus. Finishes with firm acid and tannic spine for long aging but doesn’t taste hard at all. The wine's fruit and perfume expand nicely on the long aftertaste. A serious Brunello that will reward cellaring, though it’s very enjoyable right out of the gate. |

Vinous (87)The 2015 Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vignaferrovia from Antinori is a dark, rich and large-scaled effort. Ripe plum and black cherry fruits are somewhat overwhelmed by notes of mocha, tobacco and buttercream. It’s soft and silky in the mouth, showing sweet inner herbal tones, licorice and dark chocolate. While balanced and structured, this is simply too confectionary, focused on ripeness and wood influence over fruit. |

In the world of fine wines, the Antoniotti Odilio Bramaterra 2015 stands distinguished for its distinct complexity and remarkable balance. Crafted meticulously by the Antoniotti family, renowned vintners since the 19th century, from the eclectic terroir of Northern Piedmont, Italy. A harmonious blend of Nebbiolo, Croatina, Vespolina and Uva Rara, it undertakes a two-week fermentation in stainless steel before maturing patiently for 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels. Resplendent in a ruby robe, the Antoniotti Odilio Bramaterra 2015 exudes an elegant nose of red fruit, intertwined with earthy truffles and hints of leather. On the palate, it unfolds a symphony of cherry and raspberry, counterbalanced by profound mineral notes and velvety tannin. Vibrant acidity and a long, lingering finish affirm its eminent stature, making it a cherished choice among connoisseurs. Antoniotti Odilio Bramaterra 2015 is indeed a testament to the fine art of wine-making. |

The Argentiera Bellamarsilia Morellino di Scansano 2018 is a quintessential representation of Italian winemaking excellence. Crafted by the esteemed Argentiera Winery in the Tuscany wine region, this exceptional red utilises predominantly Sangiovese grapes, blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The fermentation process takes place in lined concrete vats, allowing for softer, more refined tannins. Upon tasting, you'll find sensuous layers of red berry fruit, tobacco, and spice, underscored by a delicate, lingering acidity. Through careful maturation in new French oak barrels, the Argentiera Bellamarsilia Morellino di Scansano 2018 attains an unparalleled balance of fruit and wood. The Argentiera estate is notably the highest and closest to the sea in the Bolgheri amphitheatre, which bestows a remarkable salinity to the wine. This Morellino di Scansano is a true testament to Argentiera's commitment to producing wines of impeccable quality and character. |

Jeb Dunnuck (90)A bright red color, the 2022 Bellamarsilia is 100% Sangiovese raised in stainless steel. It’s fresh on the nose, with notes of bright red cherry, saline, fresh orange, and red flowers. On the palate, it’s refreshing and medium-bodied, with fine tannins, a clean feel, refreshing acidity, and a clean finish. A very charming wine from the only appellation of Sangiovese in Tuscany that touches the sea, it has a refreshing salty nature and is perfect for pastas or pizza night. Drink over the next couple years. |

Wine Advocate (95+)This is a terrific wine and one of the new releases from Montalcino that I happily include on a short list of top recommendations. The Argiano 2015 Brunello di Montalcino shows a very lively bouquet that is already singing despite the young age of this new release. The wine opens to a dark ruby color with garnet highlights. The bouquet shows a large span of wild berry, earth, licorice spice and medicinal herb aromas. This vintage also reveals a pretty floral character with dried rose potpourri and lavender buds. After fermentation, the wine is aged slowly for 30 months in large oak botte (including 10-, 30- and 50-hectoliter capacity), thus restricting oxygen and gently slowing its evolution. However, the 2015 vintage is naturally expressive and exuberant, and that's the main takeaway here. |

Vinous (89)The 2015 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino Riserva lifts up with a vibrant and spicy display, showing bright cherry and strawberry with mentholated herbal tones, crushed stone and a hint of white pepper. Zesty acidity creates a refreshing balance in spite of the grippy tannins that settle in toward the close.
