Piedmont is home to legendary vineyards like Gaja, Vietti, and Marchesi di Barolo. The region's iconic wines, Barolo and Barbaresco, crafted from the Nebbiolo grape, epitomize power, elegance, and longevity. These wines boast flavors of red fruit, floral notes, earthy undertones, and firm tannins. Veneto, renowned for its sparkling Prosecco wines, is also famous for Amarone della Valpolicella. Vineyards like Allegrini and Quintarelli produce exceptional Amarone wines with concentrated flavors of dark fruit, spices, and a velvety texture. Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, offers a different yet captivating expression of Italian wines. Vineyards like Planeta, Donnafugata, and Tasca d'Almerita craft remarkable wines from indigenous grape varieties such as Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese. These wines exhibit intense fruit flavors, vibrant acidity, and a unique volcanic minerality.
These are just a few examples of the renowned vineyards and wines Italy has to offer. From the northern regions of Piedmont and Veneto to the central regions of Tuscany and Umbria, and down to the southern regions of Sicily and Puglia, Italy's wine regions are a treasure trove of exceptional wines. Experience the allure of Italian wines and immerse yourself in the rich history, diverse terroirs, and passionate winemaking that define the Italian wine scene. The Real Review (96)(Top Rank) Pale ruby tending to garnet. A heady bouquet redolent of rose petals, red cherry and sour plum, cinnamon and warm earth, all underscored by the toastiness of high-quality oak. To taste, the wine is rounded and finely textural, sweet fruit flavours discreet and wrapped in threads of firm tannins, supple of body with an impressively lingering finish. A lovely wine of poise and balance, it is perfectly approachable now but also has very fine ageing potential. |

Vinous (95)The 2012 Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose is another fabulous wine from Poderi Colla. Deep, layered and quite giving at the moment, the 2012 has more than enough depth to drink well for many years to come. It is perhaps not as pedigreed as the 2013 tasted alongside it, but it is very, very close. In fact, this is one of the highlights of the vintage. |

Ripe red cherry, pipe tobacco, mint, dried rose petal, orange peel and anise are some of the endless nuances that seem to develop in the glass. The 2013 is a wine of depth, pedigree and class. It should provide thrilling drinking for a number of years. This is a regal wine in every way. Don't miss it. |

Vinous (94)The 2015 Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose is one of the most intriguing wines of the vintage. Sweet tobacco, cedar, dried cherry, mint and licorice give the wine an attractive openness at first, but that turns out to be deceptive, as the 2015 is much tighter on the palate. More than anything else, I am impressed by the wine's phenomenal length. I imagine the 2015 will always retain a slightly mature character in its aromas and flavors, but it also has the structure to develop beautifully in bottle for many years to come. This is an especially powerful edition of the Dardi Le Rose. I loved it. |

Vinous (94+)The 2017 Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose is superb. Classy and poised, the 2017 captures all the personality of Bussia. The Colla Barolos typically need a few years to shine. I imagine that will be the case here as well. As attractive as the 2017 is today, the best is yet to come. Crushed flowers, spice, sweet pipe tobacco and incense lend considerable nuance to a core of sweet Nebbiolo fruit. What a pretty wine this is. |

From the illustrious wine-growing region of Piedmont, Italy, Poderi Moretti presents the Ginis Riserva Roero 2015. This stunning wine, crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, showcases the intricacy and refinement Poderi Moretti is synonymous with. Poderi Moretti's centuries-old winemaking tradition shines through in the 18-month maturation in French oak, followed by additional refinement in a bottle for 12 months. This sophisticated process culminates in a wine that exhibits an extraordinary ruby red hue, with garnet reflections. Its palate is harmonious, warm, and persistent - a testament to the exemplary nature of Poderi Moretti Ginis Riserva Roero 2015. The Poderi Moretti Roero Pulciano Riserva 2012 is a distinguished expression of Italy's Piemonte region. Produced by the esteemed Moretti family, hailing from generations of winemakers since 1630, this ruby-red Nebbiolo reveals the utmost care in cultivation and a keen respect for ancient wine-making traditions. Grapes from 50-year-old vines, manicured meticulously through green harvesting, contribute to limited yields, ensuring higher quality vintages. Aged for 30 months in oak barrels and a further year in its bottle, this Riserva exudes elegant complexities. Sumptuous notes of dried roses, plums, and a whisper of spices create an alluring symphony on the palate. As vibrant as it is layered, the Poderi Moretti Roero Pulciano Riserva 2012 stands as a delightful testament to the unique terroir of the sandy Roero hills. Wine Advocate (95+)The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino offers a pure and classic expression of the vintage with bright fruit tones, wild cherry, toasted nut, blue flower and forest floor. Whereas the other wines in the Poggio Antico portfolio undergo aging in smaller tonneaux, this wine is aged in large Slavonian casks instead. You taste the lift and brightness of the fruit, and it's all quite lovely. Grapes are sourced across a 13-hectare site at a very high 500 meters in elevation. The name of this area is I Poggi, and the soils here are a bit lighter and rockier with both schistous galestro and limestone alberese. I love the delicate approach here, the intensity of those floral aromas, and the silky nature of the mouthfeel. Some 34,000 bottles will be released in January 2021. This classic Brunello really stands out. |

Vinous (91.5)Dark red with a large pale rim. Big, brooding wine that offers much darker color, aromas and flavors than Poggio Antico’s 2015 Brunello classico. But bigger is not necessarily better, and I find that the cedary, flinty, herbal nuances to the red and blue fruits neither have much verve nor they represent my ideal Sangiovese wine. The wine sings with the characteristics of this vintage that will be remembered for the sunshine, the warmth and the picture-perfect fruit. Each cluster hung from the vine with glorious perfection.
