  • Renato Corino Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 2018 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a very pretty and elegant wine. In 2018, there is maybe just a bit more nervousness and tannic spine than most years. Floral and spice accents lift the bright red/purplish fruit. At times relatively open and forward, while in other moments more restrained, the 2018 is full of complexity. This is nicely done.

  • Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco 2020 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

This is the bread-and-butter Barolo from Ratti, with 70,000 bottles produced. Fruit is sourced from over 15 hectares of vine planted on characteristic blue marl soils. The 2020 Barolo Marcenasco is an international classic, and I have had the fortune of following this wine over 20-plus vintages. I always like the unassuming personality of Marcenasco. It gives you character but never stretches too far in any one stylistic direction. This vintage shows some sweet oak and cinnamon, but you also get plenty of bright fruit. You could fault it for a little too much oak, which appears with more strength in 2020.

  • Renato Ratti Barolo Rocche Annunziata 2017 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (91)

The 2017 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a bit closed today, but it offers lovely persistence in a mid-weight, classically austere style that is quite appealing. Sweet dried cherry, mint, cedar, tobacco, dried cherry and dried flowers are all finely knit. The 2017 feels candied in its fruit profile, compact and also showing early signs of oxidation, all which suggest it may not be long-lived. Tasted twice with similar results.

  • Renieri Brunello di Montalcino 2015 (6x75cl)

    James Suckling (100)

Earthy aromas of bark, sand, truffles, graphite, rust, terracotta and sandalwood rise up from the deep with Burgundian poise; fruitier orange zest and preserved lemons glimmer in their wake, while riper incense and tar lurk in this dense forest of aromas. Physics itself gives way as the line between reduction and oxidation is blurred. There’s such richness to the center palate, but the fruit there is vivacious and elegant, swaddled in robust but generous tannins that breach the outermost reaches of the mouth. The finish is hauntingly long, the after effects of the acidity unworldly. This is certainly in a quiet, reserved stage of evolution, and will need time to fully mature in bottle. Drink in 2025.

  • Renato Ratti Barolo Rocche 2005 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 2005 Barolo Rocche shows lovely richness and depth in its dark fruit, flowers, herbs and French oak. The Rocche comes together beautifully in the glass, as the tannins soften a touch and the wine gains clarity. High-toned, floral aromatics accompany the fruit through to the long finish.
  • Renato Ratti Barolo Rocche Annunziata 2016 (6x75cl)

    Wine Enthusiast (97)

Glossy, elegant and full bod- ied, this beauty opens with aromas of dark berry, menthol, wild rose and exotic spice. The deli- cious, finessed palate doles out mouthfuls of juicy red cherry, raspberry compote, vanilla and licorice framed in taut, fine-grained tannins. Vibrant acidity keeps it focused and lends youthful tension.

  • Renato Ratti Barolo Rocche Annunziata 2018 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (89)

The 2018 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata opens with classic Rocche aromas. On the palate, the 2018 is a bit light, which exposes the tannins and makes the wine feel a bit skeletal. I would prefer to drink the 2018 over the next handful of years, as the flavors are a bit forward, while the structure is light.
