Wine Advocate (97)It would be impossible to exaggerate the grandeur and majesty of the overachieving 2015 Arcanum. The blend is 74% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. This full-bodied wine is mostly defined by its texture that is exceedingly rich and smooth with significant infusions of blackberry, plum, spice, tobacco and cured leather. The wine achieves beautiful balance, yet it remains intense and powerful all the while. |

Decanter (98)Today covering almost 17 hectares, the estate's Cabernet Franc is subject to a broad as much as a severe selection, which has improved the wines. It was sourced from a single plot in 2008, while this 2016 comes from 10 different plots. The French clones (326 - 327) can be problematic according to winemaker Pierre Seillan: 'With too high yields, too much herbal character is achieved, while with a tight leaf canopy it wouldn't ripen properly'. Cabernet Franc is not new to producing outstanding wines in Tuscany, and Seillant is not new to managing this grape variety in pursuit of excellence. Crimson in colour, it has a super restrained Cab Franc character of cassis and eucalyptus, with an almost citrus flavour in depth and a sweet, toasty finish of milk chocolate, liquorice and cacao powder. This 2016 is sleek and concentrated, with ripe, refined tannins and refreshing acidity. A full and tense wine. |

Wine Advocate (97)We skipped over the 2010 vintage because Lodovico Antinori is less pleased with that wine's evolution. There is little doubt, however, concerning the massive appeal of the 2009 Biserno. Specifically, I need to underline how beautifully the wine is drinking at this very moment in time. If you have a bottle, it's time to pop that cork. You will be treated to a beautifully balanced wine that feels ever so natural and comfortable in its plus-sized intensity. The wine walks with a heavy gait, but it does so with the impeccable grace of a classic dancer. Dark fruit segues to spice, leather, smoke and cigar box. The wine's substantial textural richness caresses the palate. This vintage is right up there with the excellent 2015 release. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (95)Sweet grilled herbs, incense, pine, menthol and espresso are some of the many notes that burst from the glass in the 2009 Biserno. Wonderfully alive and opulent, the 2009 is totally spherical in its expression of black fruit. Layers of fruit continue to build in the glass as the wine flows through to a creamy, expressive finish. |

Vinous (94)Lodovico Antinori's 2015 Biserno is loaded with copious crème de cassis, blackberry jam, spice, lavender, violet and crushed rocks. Silky tannins and a range of floral/spiced overtones convey an impression of refinement. I would give the 2015 a year or two in bottle to allow the tannins to relax a bit. |

Vinous (96)The 2018 Biserno is a gorgeous, elegant wine that captures the essence of the house style today. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, espresso, licorice and incense are all laced together. The 2019 is deep and fleshy yet also retains mid-weight structure and terrific energy. It's one of the most elegant wines I have tasted here. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97)The 2019 Biserno is flush with graphite mineral aromas and another layer of depth and complexity, with balsamic, Mediterranean herbs, and dark chocolate. It is composed of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, with a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The palate is full, structured, and ripe with kirsch and a dark chocolate covered cherry. It has an elegant touch of French oak, with cedar, vanilla bean, and more turned mineral earth. Full bodied and warming, but not overly ripe, this is deserving of time in cellar and then to drink over the coming 20 years. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94)Composed of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, the 2020 Il Pino di Biserno is fresh and energetic within a rich profile. Offering pure aromas of cassis, tobacco, delicate smoke, and pencil lead, the palate is plush and open, with a bit of iron richness, full body, and a round texture without being heavy. Generous with black plum, mocha, cedar, and pine resin, its fleshy and warming style is fresh and open now. |

Wine Advocate (97)This wine will be released in 2019. The spectacular 2015 Lodovico is shaping up to be wine of stratospheric intensity, depth and succulence. Lodovico is a six-hectare parcel found within the greater Bellaria vineyard (that makes the Biserno wine) at this important estate in Bibbona, Coastal Tuscany. The entire site is planted to Bordeaux grapes Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. This vintage delivers power and momentum that drives this wine smoothly over the palate. The bouquet is seamless with dark fruit tones that segue to spice, tar, smoke and cured leather. This is the sixth vintage to be produced. All the previous editions (2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013) are included in this report. |

Shiny, intense ruby red violet. On the nose shows great game, after coriander seeds and cardamom, very clear, behind it a lot of blackberry. Sated in approach and flow, unfolds with a lot of supple, dense tannins, builds up in many layers, dark berry fruit, spicy on the finish. |

Decanter (98)Produced since 2007 in Bibbona, bordering Bolgheri, Lodovico is a relatively young label managed by Lodovico Antinori. Annual production is below 10,000 bottles, and the exact blend is not revealed. Cabernet Franc-based, blended with tiny amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged 16 months in barrique, with notably less racking compared to an equivalent Bordeaux. The 2018 is not completely representative (try the outstanding and more concentrated 2016), but it describes fairly well the graceful, Margaux-like elegance of this SuperTuscan. Parma Violets, cedar, eucalyptus, wild raspberry and coffee grounds outline its complexity. Silky tannins are integrated with refreshing acidity. |
