Showing bold ripeness with strawberry and sweet raspberry aromas, the Giuseppe Mascarello 2020 Barolo Villero is more reflective of the hot vintage than the other wines in this flight. The bouquet shows hints of white raisin and dried plum. But you also get the salty, mineral notes that distinguish Castiglione Falletto. In fact, they are central to the personality of this accessible wine. Villero ferments in cement and remains in contact with the skin for 16 to 18 days, or even up to 21 days in certain vintages. Oak aging was reduced by a few months in 2020, and the wine was put in bottle earlier than usual. I recommend a near or medium-term drinking window.Inc. GSTSG$1,187.45 -

The 2015 Barolo Perno Vigna Santo Stefano is a very pretty, aromatic wine laced with the essence of crushed rose petal, spice, red berry, mint and dried herbs. I would prefer to drink it on the early side, as it is a bit fragile. In BondSG$150.00 -

Pale ruby. Heady aromas of airborne tar(!). Real lift and transparency. Racy and so seductive already. Low-key tannins evident only on the very end. Super-lively.In BondSG$981.00 -

I recommend a near or medium-term drinking window. In BondSG$1,030.00 -

Mascarello’s 1985 Barolo Monprivato is a bit more forward in its aromatics than it is on the palate, where the wine still offers remarkable power and breadth, both signatures of the 1985 vintage. This is a good, but not remarkable, example of a Barolo that can be a real show-stopper.In BondSG$2,370.00
