  • Damilano Barolo Cannubi 2012 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

I am impressed by the 2012 Barolo Cannubi. This celebrated vineyard site suffered serious hail damage in the 2012 vintage, and the vintners who farm this cru resorted to severe fruit selection in order to safeguard quality. Damilano has pulled out the best of the vintage for sure. This is a beautiful wine that boasts a delicate and feminine approach. There is pressed rose, dried violet, wild berry, cassis, cola, truffle and tilled earth. Lighter aromas of ash and smoke lift gracefully from the glass. The tannins are silky and long.

  • Davide Fregonese Barolo Cerretta 2015 (6x75cl)

  • Damilano Barolo Cannubi 2016 (6x75cl)

  • Davide Fregonese Barolo Cerretta 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (88+)

Like the Prapò, the 2015 Barolo Ceretta is imposing in the early going. Dense, powerful and impenetrable, the 2015 packs a serious punch. Black cherry, pine, menthol, new leather and licorice add to the wine's brooding feel. Time in bottle should help this unyieldingly tannic Barolo open up, although I am not sure it has enough depth to ever be fully in balance.
