The Prieure Saint Christophe Mondeuse Tradition 2014 is a resplendent example of a true blue-blooded Savoie wine, courtesy of the revered late Michel Grisard. Produced in the esteemed French region of Savoie, it is a testament to singular viticultural mastery. Grown on the steep cliffs of Montmelian, the Mondeuse grape variety achieves its full potential here, manifesting in dark fruits and a striking savoury complexity aboard a sturdy, mineral backbone. Made according to biodynamic principles, this wine showcases Grisard's devotion to tradition and respect for Terroir. Characterised by a dense, opulent bouquet, the Prieure Saint Christophe Mondeuse Tradition 2014 benefits from organic cultivation practices, careful hand-picking and fermentation in conical oak vats. With its filigree tannin structure, an underpinning acidity and a profound depth of flavour, this gem from Prieure Saint Christophe is not just a wine, it is a sensory venture into Savoie's wine heritage. |

James Suckling (93)Complex aromas of blueberry, raspberry, and coffee follow through to a full body with soft and velvety tannins and a long juicy finish. So yummy right now, but give it another three to five years. Find the wine |

Wine Enthusiast (93)92-94 Barrel sample. Spice and ripe fruits are the main characters of this wine, which shows the results of the considerable investment that has gone into this estate. Impressive and modern in style, but still keeping its harmony. |

Decanter (96)This balances the generosity of damson and cassis on one side, with elegance and freshness on the other – the hardest thing to get right in a wine. Notes of eucalyptus, liquorice and spice on the finish, this is just delicious. It showcases the succulence of the vintage, which was given a springboard by the work done at the château. The grapes were harvested over four weeks, compared to just three in 2010, which was also an exceptional vintage. However 2015 received a lot more plot-by-plot work and also produced higher yields – 42hl/h compared to 32hl/h in 2010 – giving the fruit more capacity to develop. For me this is clearly the best wine I have ever tasted from the property. Made using 50% new oak barrels. |
