Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (86-87)
A mix of domaine and purchased fruit. Tasted after Caroline Morey’s wines, the extra depth of colour stood out. Plumper but not quite dense even so, some lemon notes, a little youthful bitterness, good length, soundly made. Tasted: October 2021Inc. GSTSG$232.44 -
Vinous (87-89)
The 2021 Bourgogne Blanc comes from three vineyards in Puligny, Chassagne and Saint-Aubin. This is quite elegant on the nose, understated even with Granny Smiths and a hint of white peach. The palate is well balanced with a lovely texture, impressive weight for a regional white and with welcome "bite" on the finish. Enjoy over several years.Inc. GSTSG$187.75 -

Wine Advocate (91-93)
A blend of all Pierre-Yves's premiers crus, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru is chiseled and concentrated, revealing aromas of pear, freshly baked bread, buttery pastry, mint and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a long, chalky finish, it will really benefit from further élevage.Inc. GSTSG$830.38 -

Very high, next to the forest. Ripens about a week later than Les Chenevottes. ‘The Morgeot of altitude – power and finesse.’ Almost like a St-Aubin. ‘If you pick it too early it can be a bit skinny.’ He has started to pick it a bit later. Pierre-Yves says it needs hot years – like 2019? Barrel sample. Savoury nose and more restrained than Chenevottes on the nose. Still lots of rather aggressive acidity. Needs quite a bit of time.Inc. The 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet Chenevottes 1er Cru had a slight tincture on the nose, not corked, but there's just a bit of funkiness perhaps? They palate is well balanced with a slightly waxy texture and fine depth, quite spicy and bright with a peppery finish. This is drinking beautifully now.Inc. GSTSG$1,037.85 -

A terrific effort, the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Ancegnières unwinds in the glass with aromas of pear, freshly baked bread, orange oil and toasted nuts. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's vibrant and concentrated, with lively acids and a long, elegantly chalky finish.Inc. GSTSG$2,456.27 -
(1x75cl) 2015Vinous (96)
Pale, bright yellow. Pure, backward nose is more precise and higher pitched than the Bâtard, offering scents of tangerine zest, crushed rock and silex minerality. Boasts an uncommon combination of thickness with verve. Not heavy but incredibly opulent in the mouth, with its citrus and fresh herb flavors supported by bracing minerality. A wonderfully intense, seamless wine of terroir, and a step above the other 2015s I tasted at this address. Really superb palate-staining length.Inc. GSTSG$2,287.81 -
(1x75cl) 2016Vinous (93+)
Compellingly pure aromas and flavors of white nectarine, peach, lime pith, fresh herbs and pine resin. Powerful, classic Corton-Charlemagne with outstanding density, but extremely bound-up in the early going. This chewy, savory wine shows no easy sweetness but it's not dry either. The slowly mounting, vibrant finish displays deep saline minerality. This should age beautifully and may well ultimately merit an even higher rating.Inc. GSTSG$1,052.84 -

The pretty nose does not prepare you for the underlying muscle in this white wine. Plus, it's not rock-hard power; this is incredibly succulent for a Corton Charlie. Hazelnut and shortbread compliment the white nectarine and Rainier cherries. Les Languettes of Ladoix, where the vines are about 50 years old, provides 80% of the fruit and the rest, about 30 years old, comes from the Pernand side of the hill. 2024-40Inc. GSTSG$1,301.36 -

(Colin has just a single one-year-old 500-liter barrel of this juice): Ripe but very reticent nose hints at green apple. Tactile, peppery, dry and classic, conveying a dusty impression of extract. Tight, primary flavors of peach and white peach show a savory, sappy quality. Here's a young 2016 that might be compared to a 2010. This still needs further élevage to stretch out, and lose some of its CO2.Inc. GSTSG$677.52 -

Pale, bright yellow. Sexy spices lift orange and tangy mineral notes on the ripe, slightly exotic nose. Ripe, dense and tangy, showing a lovely balance of sweetness and acidity to its lemon and orange flavors. The long, perfumed finish features very good grip and lift, as well as the obvious influence of sweet oak. The yield here was in the restrained 40 hectoliters-per-hectare range.Inc. GSTSG$1,077.90
