  • Claude Dugat La Gibryotte Gevrey-Chambertin 2019 (12x75cl)

All of the fruit is 100% destemmed, and fermentations take place in concrete tanks with gentle punch-downs twice a day, which they prefer over pump-overs to limit the amount of oxygen ingress. The juice is left in the tank for about two weeks before being racked to barrel for malolactic and ageing; the juice is left to settle for two days prior to being racked to barrel. A fair amount of new oak is used in the wines; the village wine, for example, is aged in 60% new François’ Frères oak barrels for an average of 16 months before bottling without filtration. Each label is a benchmark for quality, and they are often hallmarked by a generous and elegant style.

The Gevrey Chambertin we have on offer today is a village wine from the Négoce business. This village bottling from a “grand” (BH) vintage and illustrious winemaking family offers extraordinary value. For clients who wish to savour the house style without spending a considerable fortune (HK$1,000 per bottle for a Domaine village bottling), Claude Dugat La Gibryotte Gevrey-Chambertin 2019 is the perfect place to start.

  • Clauzet 2016 (6x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (90-92)

The 2016 Clauzet offers rich and opulent dark cherry and blueberry fruit on the nose, more floral than earthy compared to its peers, but with commendable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry and I appreciate how those slightly rigid Saint Estèphe tannins provide the backbone here. It will need three of four years to mellow in the glass, but this has great potential.
