The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers dusty black fruit on the nose. It needs to demonstrate a little more Pinoté character, although pleasant floral scents do emerge with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins. Lower acidity than its peers, it is a dense Gevrey-Chambertin with moderate grip, but like the Village Cru, it needs to show more Pinoté on the finish, which is muscular at the moment.Inc. Until the 2015 vintage Les Hauts de Husseau was called Rémus Plus. This is a blend of five single vineyards in the northern part of the Montlouis appellation where the majority of the vines are between 70 and 90 years old, planted on thin flinty soil over limestone. The oldest vines, however, date from 1912. These three 2019s perfectly illustrate the importance, especially in a hot year, of picking at the optimum moment and having a very large team of pickers to harvest as quickly as possible. The 2019 has a fine balance of vibrant fruit and racy acidity with an attractive texture. Currently less expressive than the Clos Mosny it has a delicate tension and a long finish. The 2017 Taillefer offers lovely density in a mid-weight style that holds considerable near- and medium-term appeal. Succulent dark cherry, blood orange, chocolate, spice, new leather and mocha all flesh out in this appealing, unctuous Pomerol from Bernard Moueix. Best of all, the 2017 should be a terrific value. Tasted two times. In BondSG$453.00 -

The 2019 Taillefer has evolved nicely since I tasted it from barrel. On the nose, vivacious brambly red fruit, Earl Grey, allspice and cedar aromas vie for attention. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a liberal sprinkling of white pepper and a cohesive finish. This should age well in bottle. In BondSG$379.00 -

The 2020 Taillefer was tasted from two bottles. I must confess that the first left me scratching my head and did not rate it. The second is cleaner and more focused on the nose with blackberry, briary and light tertiary scents. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine tannins and well-judged acidity. Ah…this is much more like it. Not long, but its precision really develops nicely in the glass. My score is based on the second bottle. In BondSG$433.00 -

The 2021 Taillefer has a fragrant, floral bouquet of brambly red fruit infused with iris petal; touches of tobacco emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and fine acidity, though the finish is just a bit hard at the moment. Give it 3–4 years in bottle. In BondSG$279.00 -
