Coming from a cooler year, it has a semi-opaque ruby hue as well as a classic perfume of juicy darker berries, peppery herbs, underbrush, violets, and assorted floral nuances. All about finesse and elegance on the palate, it's medium-bodied, has supple, refined tannins, beautiful overall balance, and outstanding length. I wasn't able to taste this estate during my trip through the Rhône but was able to source a bottle (magnum no less) stateside. This impeccably made Cornas will evolve for 15+ years if well stored. |

Sensationally concentrated, powerful, backward and tasting like the essence of these steep granite slopes, it gives up loads of cassis, freshly crushed rock, wood smoke, black raspberry and roasted meats.This full-bodied beauty is as profound as they come, yet needs 4-5 years of cellaring and will keep for 20-30 years. Robert Parker rated this beauty 100 points on release and I can only agree with him. Hats off to Alain Voge and winemaker Albert Mazoyer. |
