Saturated ruby. Explosively perfumed array of dark berry, floral and spicy scents, with notes of cracked pepper and minerals adding urgency. Sweeter and more inviting than it was from barrel, offering lively black raspberry and kirsch flavors and a strong mineral underpinning. I had the chance to revisit the 2011 Grandes Places and, as was the case last year, it's showing a surprisingly open-knit character, with sappy dark fruit and floral qualities and no rough edges.
