Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-93)Bright full red. Red fruit aromas are perked up by pepper and spices. Dense and backward, in a distinctly masculine style. The pepper and spice flavors are given a penetrating quality by the wine's firm spine of acids and tannins. Youthfully imploded today but there's superb red fruit intensity here. Finishes vibrant and long, with slowly expanding fruit and spice flavors. This should evolve gracefully in bottle. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2017 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru has perhaps the most "airy" bouquet, it is very transparent at the moment, but the palate is much tighter and backward. There is good backbone here, but it is sulking and it is probably one of the Domaine’s wines that will require the longest bottle age. It has an almost Pommard-like austerity towards the finish. Excellent but one of the more challenging wines from the domaine. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2018 Volnay Taillepieds 1er Cru comes from vines located high up on the hill at the same altitude as Clos des Ducs in a windy location. This has the most precocious bouquet among d’Angerville’s Volnays, with blueberry, cassis and iodine aromas billowing from the glass. The palate is built around a sweet core of slightly confit fruit. An unusually outgoing and approachable Les Taillepieds that is full of joie-de-vivre. Whether it has the intellectual element of, say, the Clos des Ducs or the Champans is another matter. It comes across as a Volnay more intent on sensory enjoyment. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2020 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru has an overtly floral bouquet: wilted rose petals, iris and violet, wonderful definition with plenty of crunchy red and black fruit comingling. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, quite firm tannins, crisp acidity, structured and quite "serious" with black pepper and a touch of clove on the pesistent finish. This will require some bottle age. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2021 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru possesses one of the most alluring bouquet from the Domaine this year, a mélange of red and black fruit, cold granite, a touch of brine and a touch of undergrowth. Quite complex compared to other Premier Crus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, tart red cherry intermixed with blackcurrant and touches of thyme and bay, just tapering a little towards the finish. It will fill out by the time of bottling. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2017 Volnay Village offers gorgeous red cherries, raspberry coulis and light bergamot aromas on the nose. The palate is well balanced with pure dark cherry and raspberry fruit, crisp acidity, very harmonious with a tender but quite persistent finish. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2018 Volnay Village comes from two parcels (Grands Champs and Pluchots, the latter recently replanted) close to the Premier Crus, and it sees no new oak. The fragrant bouquet features more black than red fruit, nicely defined with a delicate floral touch. The medium-bodied palate delivers very fine tannins. I appreciate the edginess in this Volnay Village, thanks to the citric acidity and the spiciness that develops on the finish. Lovely. |

Jeb Dunnuck (91)Showing beautifully at this stage of its life, the 2000 Château Marquis De Terme is medium-bodied, fresh, and focused, with moderate concentration yet a complex, elegant style. Minty herbs, currants, and chocolate all define the nose, and on the palate, it has resolved tannins and a good sense of freshness. I love it today yet see no reason it shouldn't evolve nicely over the coming decade, with a gradual decline thereafter. Drink 2026-2036. |

Wine Enthusiast (91)A quarter century of improvements have made their positive mark on the wines of Marquis de Terme, as revealed in this 2001. It is a generously opulent wine, with its richness and soft tannins, but the spice, the dryness and ripe acidity give it structure and balance. It has good aging potential, but, with its richness, could be drunk now. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)The 2017 Marquis de Terme is absolutely gorgeous from the very first taste. It's great to see the 2017 has turned out so well, as it was so promising in barrel. The purity of the flavors is truly remarkable. A wine of total sophistication and polish, Marquis de Terme has a lot to offer. Time in the glass just brings out its gracious, super-refined personality even further. The 2017 finishes with terrific freshness, cut and nuance. |
