Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Châtelots has an open, articulate nose that really expresses its terroir -- such fine mineralité here. The palate is strict and linear with dark berry/blackcurrant fruit, plenty of freshness and with a steely, precise finish that perhaps just needs a little more persistence. That may come by the time it is in bottle, but for now, it is the finesse that comes through in barrel. |

Burghound (90-92)Exuberantly fresh aromas of essence of various red berries with a broader array of spice notes leads to detailed, even chiseled, lighter weight flavors that exude both energy and minerality on the understated, firm and moderately austere finale. |

Burghound (90-93)This is also aromatically really fresh with its blend of dark raspberry, violet and a crushed fennel aromas. The mouthfeel of the slightly richer flavors is also caressing but here there is a subtle minerality on the lacy, balanced and youthfully austere finale that delivers slightly better persistence. Textbook Chatelots. |

Vinous (91+)Dark red. Deep, ripe aromas of briary black raspberry, dark chocolate and minerals. Very intensely flavored and solidly structured; rather cool dark berry flavors complicated by herbal, briary and menthol hints. Not yet sweet but thick with extract. Rigorous, strong wine, finishing with big but very fine tannins. Offers impressive potential. |

Vinous (94)The 2008 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras is a prototypical wine for the year. Cool, inward and tense, it shows superb precision in its dark fruit, spices, menthol and tar. The wine literally wraps around the palate with serious intensity and a beguiling personality that is impossible to resist. The finish is pointed and flat-out beautiful. |

Vinous (94)The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras is loaded with class and energy. There is tremendous energy in the glass as layers of dark cherries, mint, graphite, crushed rocks, spices and licorice gain volume and breath through the mid-palate and finish. I very much like the intensity and focus here. The Cras is going to need at least another few years in bottle, but it is shaping up to be truly stellar. |

Vinous (94+)(from a yield of about 28 hectoliters per hectare, according to Ghislaine Barthod): Good bright, full red. Very closed yet delicate nose offers scents of black cherry, licorice, fresh herbs and minerals. Soil-driven, saline and sweet, with powerful minerality accentuating the wine's superb concentration. Wonderfully tactile yet light on its feet, this taut, vibrant wine saturates the entire mouth and stains the front teeth. As with Barthod's other 2010s, the tannins are extremely refined. Barthod notes that the 1999 version of this wine is still young, and she believes that this 2010 will take even longer to reach full maturity. |

Decanter (95)Another well sited premier cru, at the same altitude as Bonnes Mares, Ghislaine Barthod's parcel runs to 0.82ha and is one of the bigger cuvées in her cellar. There's a cooling effect from the combe above the village here, producing a wine that's savoury, focussed and taut with a chalky mineral core. It’s unusually fresh for a 2017. |

Wine Advocate (94-96)The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras may well prove to be the highpoint of a magical portfolio chez Barthod, and it will be worth a special effort to seek out. Unwinding in the glass with scents of dark berries, raspberries, exotic spices, sweet soil tones and peonies, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a textural attack that segues into a deep and layered mid-palate, underpinned by bright acids and ripe tannins, before concluding with a long, perfumed and exquisitely mineral finish. |

Wine Advocate (96)The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras is similarly compelling, soaring from the glass with aromas of red berries, exotic spices, orange rind, musk and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and tightly wound, with a deep and vibrant core of fruit that's framed by fine, powdery tannins, it concludes with a long, penetrating and intensely mineral finish. This is a magical Chambolle-Musigny worth a special effort to seek out. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-94)A good even density of crimson. The nose suggests fair density but does not want to give detail. Solid and really quite fine on the palate, the most classical structure of all the cuvees, the wine that suggests it will need longest to come round. Racy finish, with fruit, tannins and acidity all in good balance. Drink from 2027-2034. Tasted: November 2022. |

Vinous (94-96)The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru bides its time unfolding in the glass, eventually revealing earthy red fruit, clove and hints of bergamot. This is very complex, but it is not a flashy Chambolle. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry. It has crisp acidity and is nicely structured with one of the most sapid finishes from the Domaine. This is one of their finest offerings in this vintage. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (94-96)The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru is endowed with the most fruit concentration amongst the domaine's Premier Crus. Mulberry, raspberry, damp earth and dark chocolate hints develop in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, with an assertive grip on the entry. The fine tannins here give this Les Cras wonderful symmetry and poise. It's nimble, complete and delicious toward the saline finish. This Chambolle is a cut above. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers 1er Cru has a spicy bouquet that takes time to cohere in the glass. Dark cherries, pain d'épice and dried flowers unfold in the glass. The palate is perhaps the most marine-influenced of the cuvées. Rather foursquare perhaps: it's tightly wound and slightly conservative towards the finish, yet feels long in the mouth. Very fine…but you must be patient. |
