Vinous (94-96)The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru conveys much more terroir expression on the nose, offering chalk dust and wet limestone aromas; great intensity here. The taut, fresh palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a mineral-driven finish and commendable persistence. This is a step above the Bienvenues this year and it should age with style. Bon vin! |

Tim Atkin MW (97)This is an about-face from the Bienvenue-B tard-Montrachet. It is unapologetically creamy and sumptuous with a near gluttonous concentration of lushly ripe orchard fruit accompanied by cinnamon dusted banana bread. Yet, there is a strong current of bustling acidity providing refreshment. These vines were planted in 1985 and 1997 and purchased by Faiveley in 2008. 2025-40 |

Vinous (92-94)The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is more backward and surly than the Bienvenues at this stage, less "welcoming". The palate is well balanced with a tangy entry, orange rind and lemon peel, touches of grapefruit towards the finish, though the Bienvenues has more cohesion. Still commendable given the season. |

James Suckling (97-98)Mind-blowingly deep and subtle nose of stone fruit with citrusy nuances. All the density of Batard, but with such elegance at the extremely long, focused finish. Great potential! From old vines purchased in 2008. |

Wine Advocate (94-96)The soils here are stonier and faster draining, and the 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is denser and more unctuous than the Bienvenues. Exhibiting notes of pear, lime zest, toasted bread, white flowers and hazelnuts, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with broad shoulders and plenty of structuring extract. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (88-91)Bright purple, lots of energy, blacker centre. Solid dense bouquet without much detail as yet. Very intense, extremely juicy but not too wild, certainly very ripe but has managed to maintain discipline. Tasted: November 2021 |

Vinous (94-96)The 2021 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has such an expressive and vivacious nose that positively leaps out of the glass. In fact, if you just imagine a neon plus sign, that probably expresses the aromatics better than anything else. Happy at its survival after the frost? The palate is very well balanced with grace and poise, Williams pear mixed with white peach, tensile on the citric finish. Excellent. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)Mid lemon yellow. Some delicacy, without disputing the imminent power. A pure bench of fresh white fruit, actually this is more about nuances than power, though it maintains energy all the way through, to a fine long finish. Love the tension, and the finesse, while some other versions may be more intense. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted: October 2023. |

Vinous (91+)Medium red. Sappy, youthfully medicinal flavors of raspberry and black cherry; slightly reduced. Concentrated and powerful but a bit musclebound today, finishing with a tannic toughness. But this has terrific energy and noteworthy length. I'd sock it away for a decade. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93-95)Saturated dark red. Knockout nose combines liqueur-like raspberry, coffee, smoke, licorice and brown spices. Tightly coiled and powerful, conveying an impression of energy but at the same time sweeter and more harmonious than the Mazis. Perhaps best today on the extremely long, palate-staining finish, which features an almost electric impression of precision and complex suggestions of minerals, coffee and spices. Hervet describes 2007 as a vintage that offers great transparency of terroir, and this wine could serve as Exhibit A. |

Vinous (94+)Medium red. Highly nuanced yet quite primary on the nose, offering scents of raspberry, underbrush, dried rose, ginger and smoky oak. Juicy, saline and quite dry, with dark berry and strawberry flavors complicated by an earthy perfume. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and excellent length. With 24 hours in the recorked bottle, this beauty showed a silkier texture and chewy, deep flavors of raspberry and spices that saturate the palate without leaving any impression of weight. A great effort for the vintage. |

Vinous (94+)Bright medium red. Deep, musky nose combines cranberry, raspberry, cardamom, faded rose and crushed stone. Sweet, seamless and energetic, offering almost painful cut to the tart red berry, spice and musky underbrush flavors. Outstanding savory lift in the middle palate. Wonderfully lightness of touch here. Very backward wine with all the Cos de Bèze food groups: red fruits, minerals, spices, flowers, crushed stone. Stains the palate and leaves the taste buds quivering on the very long, firm finish. But still a baby today and in need of a decade of cellaring. |
