Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)The 2018 Clarke is a potent wine. A blast of dark red cherry fruit, iron, smoke, grilled herbs and menthol makes a strong opening statement. Readers should plan on being patient, as the 2018 is going to need a number of years to soften. Even so, it is pretty impressive today. Cedar, leather and game add aromatic nuance, but Clarke is ultimately a pretty rich, potent Listrac that just needs time. The only question is how much. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2020 Clarke has a classically-styled bouquet with strict blackberry, graphite and mint aromas that might lead you towards Pauillac instead of Listrac. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, well balanced with a fresh line of acidity. The oak is neatly assimilated on the finish that feels smooth and enticing. This is an excellent Château Clarke. |

James Suckling (94)Perfumed on the nose with spiced apples, lemon rind, sesame, fresh leaves and mild spices as well. Medium-bodied with crisp acidity. Vertical and succulent with lots of lemony character at the center. Lively with a well-rounded texture at the edges and a spicy, flinty finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold. |

Wine Advocate (93)The 2016 Anjou Violette is deep, intense, very pure and elegant on the harmonious nose, with perfectly ripe dark and red berry aromas (blackcurrant) intertwined with floral aromas. Silky, finessed and fresh on the palate, this is a very delicate and charming blend of Cab Franc (two-thirds 45-year-old vines) and Cab Sauvignon (one-third 65-year-old vines) with perfectly ripe, concentrated but juicy fruit, a velvety and concentrated texture, very fine and crunchy tannins and enormous intensity, thanks to the low-yielding Cabernets. This is a beautifully finessed and silky-textured Anjou that reveals its concentration and depth only on the finish. The wine was aged in barrels for 18 months and then spent another six months in vat. Bottled in April 2017. |

Vinous (88-89)The 2012 Bourgogne is wonderfully supple, radiant and expressive. Dark red cherry, plum and spice notes are all fused together in a gorgeous Burgundy that captures the essence of the Dugat house style and the pure texture that is the signature of these wines. |

Vinous (85-87)The 2018 Bourgogne Rouge had been sulfured the day prior to my visit in November. Raspberry and cranberry fruit on the nose. The medium-bodied palate offers spicy black currant and strawberry fruit and a peppery finish. Fine. |

Vinous (85-87)The 2021 Bourgogne Rouge has a pretty red cherry and kirsch scented bouquet that unfolds with gusto. The palate is defined by tart red cherries and strawberry fruit, light but it gains concentration towards the finish. Fine. |

Vinous (96)The 2020 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru could well turn out to be Dugat's finest cuvée this vintage. The nose rivets your feet to the spot with its intense oyster shell tinged red fruit that feels more composed compared to the Charmes. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, tensile and brimming with energy. There is a discrete crescendo towards its harmonious, transparent and lingering finish that you just don't want to end. Quite brilliant. |

Vinous (96-98)The 2021 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a beguiling bouquet with perfumed wild strawberry, cranberry and crushed stone scents, gradually revealing pressed flower aromas with aeration. Multifaceted and vigorous, yet classy. The palate has unerring symmetry, perfectly pitched acidity and seamlessly integrated oak, a discrete crescendo towards a wonderfully proportioned and persistent finish. Everything you could wish for from a Chapelle-Chambertin (and more). |

Vinous (93+)Full red-ruby. Sexy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, minerals and violet. Wonderfully precise and vibrant, with terrific cut to its intense flavors of dark berries and violet. But this infant is still youthfully tight and bound-up. A bit rounder on the back end, finishing with excellent grip and length and a lingering hint of licorice. |

Tim Atkin MW (95)A typically dark, concentrated wine from this impressive Gevrey domaine (sulphur levels are kept high to keep oxygen at bay) made in a serious, powerful, ageworthy style. Theres no concession to immediate flavours here. Bold and textured with firm tannins, lots of new oak and crunchy, pomegranate-like acidity. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru demands a little coaxing from the glass, with dark cherries, raspberry preserve and briary aromas, gradually unfurling but never fully letting go like the Chapelle-Chambertin. The palate is very well structured with a firm backbone, quite Mazoyères-like in style, the mineralité flooding out towards the second half that displays an insistent grip and impressive length. Excellent. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers red cherries and blueberry fruit on the nose, which lives up to its name, though I find more complexity this year on the Lavaux Saint-Jacques by direct comparison. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, a very smooth texture and impressive density, though I discern just a little heaviness on the finish at the moment. |

Wine Advocate (94-96)Another stunner is the 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, a striking wine that soars from the glass with aromas of cherries, rose petals, wild berries, sweet spices and loamy soil. Full-bodied, ample and concentrated, it's deep and layered, with an enveloping core of vibrant fruit and a long, penetrating finish. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru sported quite hefty reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read during my visit at the Domaine. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly lactic entry, powdery texture, tight and firm. Maybe not quite the complexity or amplitude of Dugat's other cuvées on the finish, but it will evolve with time in bottle. A bit stoic at the moment |
