Vinous (90+)Healthy dark red. Pure but reticent nose offers scents of dark berries and licorice pastille; at once slightly liqueur-like and fresh. Rich, fine-grained and sweet, but a bit less fruity and stylish than the 2016 version. This is ultimately tighter and more powerful and built to age. Doesn't show the finesse of the 2016 version in the early going but avoids coming across as hard. |

Vinous (91)(the yield here was about 33 hectoliters per hectare, vs. an estate-wide average of 28 in 2015): Bright ruby-red. Subtle scents of boysenberry, blackberry, bitter chocolate and anise. Concentrated, tactile Beaune premier cru with layered dark berry flavors and lovely integrated sweetness. This very fine-grained, harmonious wine finishes with sweet dark fruits and suave tannins. This wine showed good power but a slight rusticity from barrel a year ago; it's more classy in its finished form. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)Just as it was from barrel, the 2016 Alcée is rich, sumptuous and hedonistic. Red plum, dried herb, cherry, spice, tobacco and iron give the 2016 notable aromatic and flavor complexity. The interplay of dense fruit and persistent tannins makes for a compelling wine that delivers serious intensity at its level. The 2016 is super-ripe and potent, but has enough brightness and overall energy to make for a very complete wine. This is a strong showing from Alcée, Nicolas Thienpont's Côte de Castillon. Tasted two times. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)The 2017 Alcée has turned out beautifully. Espresso, mocha, sweet red cherry, red plum, mint, cedar and spice give the 2017 very pretty aromatic brightness. Pliant and racy. This mid-weight Nicolas Thienpont's Côtes de Castillon has so much to offer. A touch of whole clusters adds nuance and vibrancy to this very pretty and expressive red. I would give it another year in bottle. There is plenty to look forward to, that is for sure. Tasted three times. |

Vinous (93)Dark, bright-rimmed magenta. Mineral-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas are underscored by a suave floral nuance that builds as the wine opens up. Juicy and penetrating in the mouth, offering sappy dark berry and bitter cherry flavors with complicating suggestions of baking spices and candied violet. The floral note builds steadily through the impressively long, seamless finish, which is framed by discreet tannins that meld smoothly with the wine's intense fruit. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroye 1er Cru has an intense, quite stony bouquet with more yellow flowers here, perfumed with light resinous scents. The palate is very well balanced with a sapid orange pith and white peach-tinged entry. Fine depth, a little richer towards the finish with a persistent aftertaste, this is another appealing wine from Alex Moreau. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru reflects its terroir brilliantly on the nose, which offers aromas of wet limestone and flint, beautifully defined and gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is wonderfully balanced with green apples, freshly sliced pear and just a touch of citrus lemon. This is taut, almost Zen-like in style – just as Caillerets ought to be. Superb. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has more intensity on the nose than the Les Vergers, a little richer in style with touches of dried honey and wild peach. Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with another quite citric entry, sharp and it sports just the right amount of bitterness, though perhaps the Les Vergers is more pixelated. Still, this is very fine. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)5 Star Wine. An even lemon and lime colour. Energy on the nose, not yet so much detail. The palate delivers its usual resounding success, a mass of pure white fruit which builds in intensity to the back and finishes with the lightest of toasty notes which is complementary. Excellent length. Not only is this really good, there are 100 barrels of it! |
