Jeb Dunnuck (99)Awesome levels of blackcurrants, darker cherries, roasted herbs, chocolate, and scorched earth all emerge from the 2022 Château Malartic-Lagravière, an incredibly concentrated, rich, layered beauty that has velvety tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. It's easily the finest I've tasted from this château and is a riveting 2022 that deserves 4-6 years in the cellar and will keep for two decades or more. The 2022 is based on 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, with the élevage spanning 20 months in 60% new French oak. There are a little over 8,000 cases of this brilliant wine. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)A fabulous white wine from Malartic’s 17.5 acres of white grapes, this blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semillon hit 13.5% natural alcohol. It offers plenty of fresh fig, honeysuckle and orange blossom notes in a dense, concentrated, rich style. The wine’s beautiful acidity and fragrance confirm that this was one of the finest white wines produced in Bordeaux in 2013. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2017 Malartic-Lagravière Blanc has a very impressive bouquet with flinty, citrus fruit that evolves more discrete tropical scents with aeration, hints of dried honey, lime and mango emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite saline in the mouth and fine weight. A precise and quite sustained finish. This has great potential and it may improve with continued bottle age. That said, it will be irresistible in its youth. |

James Suckling (95-96)A beautifully structured and complex white with pristine, bright citrus fruit and an exotic touch. There’s a mineral character to it, too, with oyster-shell and crushed-stone notes. It’s medium- to full-bodied with racy acidity that adds energy and tension. Very long finish with fine tannins that frame it nicely. |

Wine Advocate (90)This impressively constructed wine offers a saturated deep ruby/purple color, followed by elegant aromas of berry fruit intermixed with tobacco, flowers, and vanillin scents. It is layered and medium to full-bodied, with outstanding purity and fruit extraction. Although deep, rich, and powerful for a wine from this estate, it has not lost any of its elegance or potential complexity. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2025. |

Wine Advocate (95)This estate, which has continued to impress me in recent years, hit a home run in 2000. Showing slightly better than I rated it previously, this wine is deep bluish/purple with some lightening at the edge, and its floral nose displays notes of melted licorice, crushed rock, blueberries and black raspberries. A wine of extraordinary balance, equilibrium, and purity, with supple tannins, this medium to full-bodied, concentrated effort is already compelling and has hit its window of full maturity, where it should stay for another 15-20 years. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2008 Malescot St Exupery has a conservative, correct bouquet that to be frank is rather unexciting compared to its peers, although it does open and reveal briary and crushed rose petal scents and bingo, you are soon under its spell. The palate is medium-bodied with “furry” tannins, good depth of fruit and it has a fine line of acidity. I like the spine of this Margaux and the classicism shown towards the bright finish. It is one of those wines that meliorates with acquaintance, approaching previous scores that I have awarded this wine. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting. |
