Wine Advocate (94)The 2022 Franc-Mayne has turned out beautifully, bursting with aromas of sweet raspberries and blueberries mingled with espresso roast, spices, rose petals and violets. Medium to full-bodied, suave and seamless, it's lively and textural, with sweet tannins and a long, perfumed finish. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (88-90)The 2019 Frank Phélan is a very pretty, supple second wine that will drink well upon release. Inky dark fruit, licorice, spice, tobacco, dried herbs, lavender and mint all meld together in this supple, mid-weight Saint-Estèphe. There is plenty to like here. All the 2019 needs is élevage to soften the tannins. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (87)The 2020 Frank Phélan, which will be released in 2023, has a well-defined nose, hints of black olive tinging the black fruit with raspberry and mulberry surfacing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft opening, quite rounded and fleshy, perhaps missing a little tension on the finish. As such, it's an early-drinking Saint-Estèphe that should give several years' drinking pleasure. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (87-89)A fruity, accessible red, the Merlot-based 2013 Goulée by Cos d'Estournel jumps from the glass with sweet red berries, tobacco, flowers and spices. This is a very pretty, silky red from Cos d'Estournel with good near term potential and plenty of vintage 2013 brightness. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (86-88)The 2020 Goulée by Cos d'Estournel is perfumed and silky in the glass. Cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and crushed flowers lend attractive aromatic presence. This is an especially gracious style that feels a bit light, especially on the mid-palate and finish, where there is some loss of persistence. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)The 2021 G 'Estournel is racy and expressive in the glass. Pretty floral and savory accents run through a core of dark Merlot fruit. This mid-weight, gracious Haut-Médoc is all charm. The 2021 is impeccably balanced from start to finish. Delicious. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (95)The 2009 Gazin has a very concentrated, high-toned bouquet with Merlot firmly in the driving seat, a mixture of black and blue fruit. The palate is rounded on the entry with supple tannin, succulent and glossy in style with macerated black cherries and salted liquorice towards the finish. This needs another year or two in the glass. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. |

Wine Advocate (93+)A powerful, virile 2011, Gazin reveals a dense ruby/purple color, a big, meaty, earthy richness, lots of coffee, black cherry liqueur and spice notes, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It will benefit from another 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for 15+ years. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2014 Gazin was stubborn and broody when tasted in bottle, but give it a few swirls and there comes forth gravel and black truffle scents alongside sultry black fruit. These aromatics are so engaging and involving, drawing you in towards it charms. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and taut with great precision and sappiness towards the focused, almost symmetrical, black truffle-laced finish. This continues Gazin's fine run of form, a great Pomerol from an estate predisposed these days to create sophisticated, classic wines. |

Jeb Dunnuck (95+)A straight up smokin’ red from this vintage is the 2015 Château Gazin and it’s a big, powerful, stacked 2015 that’s for those with patience. Made from almost all Merlot (I think it’s 100%), my notes on this beauty start - and end - with “love it.” Cassis, lead pencil shavings, graphite, forest floor, and tons of minerality all soar from the glass of this sensationally rich, concentrated, medium to full-bodied 2015 that has building tannin, a seamless texture, and a blockbuster finish. Forget bottle for 5-7 years and enjoy over the following two to three decades. |

Wine Advocate (95)Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Gazin features a beautifully perfumed nose of violets, Ceylon tea, cigar box, sandalwood and fallen leaves over a core of plum preserves, kirsch and blackberry preserves plus a waft of aniseed. Medium-bodied and elegant, with compelling restraint, it has a seductively plush texture, finishing with bags of poise, perfume and persistence. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97)The deep purple, inky-hued 2018 Château Gazin comes from the Pomerol plateau and is 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. A brilliant nose of blueberries, candied cherries, wildflowers, tobacco, chocolate, and spice gives way to a stunning Pomerol with full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. This plush, sexy, opulent Pomerol does everything right. It already offers pleasure yet will ideally be given 4-6 years of bottle age and will have two decades or so over overall longevity. |
