Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Pavie drifts effortlessly and profoundly from the glass with baked plums, spice cake, sandalwood, Black Forest cake and blueberry pie scents followed up with a fragrant undercurrent of potpourri, unsmoked cigars and bouquet garni. • Pavie 2010 (12x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (100)

Checking in as 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2010 Château Pavie is an absolute dream of a wine from the team of Perse and one of the more consistent 100-point wines I've encountered. Its still-youthful plum/purple hue is followed by a blockbuster array of sweet dark fruits, white truffle, leafy tobacco, and cedar pencil on the nose. On the palate, it has classic Pavie power and richness, as with all great wines, it remains weightless and seamless, with a multi-dimensional mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It clearly offers pleasure today and is in the early stages of its prime drinking window, and it's going to continue evolving gracefully over the coming 25+ years. Drink 2026-2055.

  • Pavie 2011 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (95+)

The 2011 Pavie is composed of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon (14.3% alcohol). It possesses a certain approachability, which is somewhat disarming for the big, robust, super-concentrated and ageworthy style Pavie has favored since 1998. The opaque purple-hued, full-bodied 2011 offers a sweet kiss of kirsch, blackberry, cassis and licorice, but no evidence of toasty oak despite the fact it is bottled about six months after most other premier grand cru classes in St.-Emilion. One of the most complete wines of the vintage, this superstar possesses gorgeous texture and opulence, and can be drunk in 3-4 years, or cellared for two decades.

  • Pavie 2013 (12x75cl)

    Wine Spectator (93)

Tasting Note This has power but offers a greater display of purity overall, as the dense core of raspberry, cherry and plum preserves glides rather than rumbles, carried by a sleek structure before letting a fine chalky minerality linger on the finish. Shows length and depth, and should be among the longer-lived wines of the vintage.

  • Pavie 2014 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (96)

The 2014 Pavie is silky, powerful and intense, with all of its elements in the right place. In 2014, Pavie is exceptionally polished, with plenty of richness but less of the bombastic style of some years past. Part of that is, of course, the personality of the vintage, but at the same time, there has been a move toward a bit more finesse here in recent years. A rush of raspberry jam, pomegranate, mint and white flowers leads into the vivid, richly textured finish. The 2014 is a gorgeous Pavie loaded with personality.

    (1x600cl) 2017

    Wine Advocate (99)

There was no frost in the vineyard in 2017, due to its situation high upon the limestone plateau. Composed of 60% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, which was harvested from September 25 to October 3, the 2017 Pavie is very deep garnet-purple in color and rolls slowly and sensuously out of the glass with growing scents of Black Forest cake, black plum preserves, blueberry compote and fruitcake plus suggestions of melted chocolate, licorice, crushed rocks and Indian spices with a waft of violets. Full-bodied, the palate packs a powerful punch, laden with electric layers of energetic black and blue fruits. All this decadent fruit is supported by fantastic freshness and very, very ripe, velvety tannins, finishing with epic length. Location, location, location was everything in 2017. Pavie has one of the most enviable locations in all of Bordeaux and boy-oh-boy does it show in this spectacular wine.

  • Pavie 2018 (1x300cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (100)

One of the wines of the vintage is the 2018 Château Pavie, and Gérard Perse continues to produce one of the greatest wines in the world, in just about every vintage. Based on 60% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 shows the slightly more restrained style of the estate today yet still brings classic Pavie richness, depth, and grandeur. Revealing a deep purple color as well as a sensational bouquet of crème de cassis, damp earth, tobacco, chalk, and lead pencil shavings, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, incredible purity, a dense, concentrated mid-palate, and a liqueur of rocks-like sense of minerality on the blockbuster finish. There's a backward, inward style here that actually reminds me of the 2000. This is another magical, probably immortal wine from this terroir that marries power with elegance perfectly. Don't miss it!

    (1x600cl) 2015

    James Suckling (100)

For me, this redefines Pavie. The depth and intensity and more important, the clarity, is really something. Full and ultra-fine tannins. It shows such great tannins and finesse. It is the essences of Pavie.

  • Pavie 2016 (12x75cl)

    The Wine Independent (100)

Pavie 2016 is deep garnet-purple in color. It has an atomic nose of stewed plums, blackberry pie, Indian spices, and chocolate mint, plus suggestions of crushed stones, underbrush, red roses, and oolong tea, with a touch of beef dripping. Full-bodied, rich and decadent, the palate is a powerhouse of muscular black fruit flavor, supported by super-firm, super-ripe tannins and lovely freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. Needs a good 6-7 years and then keep it for the next 50 years+.

  • Pavie 2017 (1x600cl)

    (1x150cl) 2019

    The Wine Independent (99)

Deep garnet purple in color, the 2019 Pavie is a tad restrained to start, needing some patient swirling to coax out notes of fresh blueberries and boysenberries plus underlying scents of kirsch, violets, star anise, and fragrant earth. The full-bodied palate is taut with bright, youthful, muscular black fruits, supported by plush tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing on a persistent floral note. This was the first vintage for the move from 60% to 50% Merlot along with 30% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
