The 2019 Château Le Gay is a spicy, already complex, yet structured Pomerol that has some up-front appeal, yet will unquestionably benefit from bottle age. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a medium to full-bodied, ripe, nicely textured Pomerol that has abundant spiced red and black fruits, notes of dried herbs, loamy earth, and spicy oak, ripe, velvety tannins, and plenty of length on the finish. Give bottles 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades. It should merit that higher barrel score at maturity.Inc. GSTSG$325.69 -

This is a young red with great intensity and vision that starts off slowly and builds with energy and verve. It’s so minerally with salty, chalky and spice undertones to the cool and vibrant, purple and subtle-fruit flavors. The tannins are wonderfully toned and polished and build on the palate to deliver something very special.Inc. GSTSG$1,385.70 -

The 2023 Le Gay is a gorgeous, sumptuous Pomerol. Copious dark fruit, mocha, chocolate, licorice, dried herbs and a kiss of French oak are all laced together. As always, Le Gay shows the riper side of the appellation, which is amplified by vinification in barrel. This should be stellar with a few more years in bottle.Inc. GSTSG$1,802.64 -

Black cherries, new leather, leafy herbs, and some spicy, graphite-like notes all emerge from the 2022 Château Giscours Haut Médoc, a terrific Haut-Médoc from this estate with a pure, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It would make one hell of a house red and should have a solid decade of longevity. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc.Inc. GSTSG$266.40 -

This estate has been firing on all cylinders, and they’ve produced two outstanding wines in 2017. The 2017 Marquis de Calon is the second wine and is 57% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc that was brought up in 30% new barrels and hit 13.2% natural alcohol. This medium-bodied, elegant Saint-Estephe has plenty of Merlot flesh and charm as well as terrific cassis fruit and notes of cedary herbs and flowers. It’s already impossible to resist, yet I suspect it will evolve for 10-15 years in cool cellars.Inc. GSTSG$650.64 -

The 2019 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur is a terrific second wine. Ample, bold and dramatic, the 2019 packs a huge punch. The 2019 is a big wine, but the 15.1% alcohol is not especially evident.Inc. GSTSG$313.29 -
