Saint-Julien
Welcome to Saint-Julien, the picturesque Bordeaux appellation known for producing some of the most balanced and refined wines in the region. Saint-Julien wines are characterized by their elegant structure, nuanced fruit flavors, and subtle tannins. Saint-Julien is located south of Pauillac and north of Margaux, in the heart of the Médoc on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. The area's unique terroir, characterized by gravelly soil and a maritime climate, allows for cultivating the region's signature varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Saint-Julien is home to illustrious wineries such as the Super Seconds Château Leoville Las-Cases and Château Ducru Beaucaillou, alongside other renowned estates like Château Leoville Barton and Château Leoville Poyferre. The greatest examples of this formidable terroir are always breathtakingly elegant and balanced whilst possessing tremendous character and the ability to age as well as any great Médoc.
Experience the elegance and refinement of Saint-Julien wines today. Browse our selection and discover why this picturesque Bordeaux appellation is considered one of the finest wine regions in the world.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (96+)The 2023 Beychevelle is a dark, brooding wine. Blackberry, gravel, dried herbs, chocolate, menthol and incense stain the palate. Time in the glass brings out the wine's freshness and energy, along with a surprising amount of tension. In many recent vintages, Beychevelle has been quite racy and opulent. The 2023, on the other hand, displays elements of youthful classicism that will require a few years to mellow. I expect it will age gracefully for decades. |

Wine Enthusiast (95)This is a marvelously complete wine, with its impressive ripe fruit, shining through the open structure. It is firm, but not too much. Stone black fruits are just perfectly ripe. There is just a core of dryness to compliment the rest of the wine. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2002 Branaire Ducru was partly made with Philippe Dhalluin and Dominique Arangoïts, who said there was a lot of discussion about the blend at the time. It has an open-knit, earthy bouquet with black fruit, wild mint, singed leather and a touch of potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied with mainly red fruit, white pepper, clove, a slight grittiness to the tannins but with commendable depth and freshness towards the finish. Fine acidity and bite, this is a Saint-Julien that is à point. Tasted at the château. |

Wine Advocate (94)This fully mature, gorgeous 2003 Branaire Ducru possesses silky tannins, lots of cedary, spice box, floral, black cherry, forest floor and velvety leather-like notes, full body, and an opulent, complex yet elegant style. A beauty of complexity, richness and finesse, it should continue to drink well for another 5-6 years. |

Wine Enthusiast (92)Taking advantage of the delicious fruit of 2006, this Branaire-Ducru shows a charming side. It brings out ripe, spicy black plums and black cherry spice to go with the lively, fresh tannins. That's not to say that there isn't structure, but today it is the fruit that dominates. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (95)The 2010 Branaire-Ducru has a lovely mélange of red and black fruit, hints of dried blood and autumn leaves suggesting that this is moving into its secondary phase. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, good body and a fresh marine-tinged finish that is an absolute joy. There is an abiding symmetry about this wine and it is in for the long-haul. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)The 2014 Branaire Ducru is soft, polished and super-inviting. Succulent red cherry, plum, lavender, spice and mint give the wine its attractive, open-knit personality, while silky tannins add to an overall impression of sensuality. The 2014 should drink well with minimal cellaring. Today, it is among the most accessible of the Saint-Juliens. |
