Wine Advocate (96)The 2011 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts had a slight reduction on the nose that soon blows away. The fruit is darker and broodier here than Aux Brulees with mulberry, raspberry, wild hedgerow and a touch of black olive compote. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, structured tannins lending this Vosne a firm backbone. It is beautifully balanced and extremely pure, not a hair out of place toward the delineated, feminine finish. This should age beautifully – the laser-like focus absolutely riveting. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Beaux Monts has great clarity on the nose, here veering more toward red fruit than the les Brulées, with subtle wet limestone and granitic scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied, very “gourmand” in the mouth, the kind of wine you don’t know whether to drink or eat (not in terms of texture but the flavors). There is a lovely meaty note that surfaces on the long finish. Tres bon vin! |

Vinous (95)Gravitas and power are two of the signatures of Leroy's 2014 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts. The flavors and textures are boldly sketched. Layers of dark-fleshed fruit add to the wine's virile intensity and overall feel. This deep, resonant Vosne is going to require a good bit of patience. Even so, it is fascinating to contemplate at this early stage in its life. In 2014, the Beaux Monts is a wine that speaks with a strong, distinctive voice. |

Impeccably superior and boldly expressive, the Les Angelots de Villemaurine 2015 is a supreme embodiment of the Saint-Émilion wine region in Bordeaux France. Produced by a small, elite property that stretches merely over 2.12 hectares, the vineyard's dedication to artisanal winemaking echoes in every sip of this wine. The soil, predominantly clay and limestone, nourishes the50-year-old Merlot vines, contributing to the wine's distinct Bold and concentrated character. The vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, followed by a maturation in French oak barrels for 18 months, perfection is undoubtedly achieved. The Les Angelots de Villemaurine 2015 shimmers with deep ruby hues, delivering powerful notes of red and black fruits, intertwined with subtle undertones of sweet spice and licorice. Its rich, velvety tannins gracefully melt away to reveal a well-structured, persistent finish; a wonderful testament to its Grand Cru Classé status. Experience the Les Angelots de Villemaurine 2015, and immerse yourself in an enthralled journey through a classic Bordeaux vintage masterpiece. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (89)The 2019 Les Arums de Lagrange, the white cuvée from the Saint-Julien estate, offers attractive lime and yellow flower scents, a touch of almond in the background. The palate is nicely balanced with a dab of lemongrass on the entry. Moderate weight with discrete tropical notes sing from the wings on the finish. Enjoy over 3-5 years. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93)(from 80-year-old vines planted on thin clay soil over hard limestone): Full bright ruby. Medicinal black fruits and chocolate on the nose. Dense, plush and deep, with very ripe dark berry and chocolate flavors enlivened by chewy minerality. Can't quite match Le Carre for lift but this is every bit as concentrated and comes across as sweeter. Finishes with strong, building tannins and terrific length. |

Vinous - Ian D'Agata (92-95)(83% merlot and 17% cabernet franc; 3.46 pH; 14.7 % alcohol) Medium dark ruby. Fruity, pure aromas of raspberry, graphite, white pepper and violet. At once rich and linear, offering a wonderfully vibrant expression of raspberry, red cherry and graphite. The long, sweet finish shows a steely, peppery quality. This wine comes from 80-year-old vines situated on very thin clay over hard limestone, which survived the frost of 1956. I like this wine's purity and the fact that the cabernet franc, even though compromising only a small part of the blend, makes its presence felt. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (95)The 2015 Les Astéries is a wine of pure and total allure. Much more satisfying from bottle than it was from barrel, the 2015 marries the natural intensity of the year and Jonathan Maltus's personal imprint with energy - a combination that dazzles from the very first taste. The dark cherry, espresso, mocha and licorice flavors bristle with power. Sumptuous in feel, but with good savory and mineral underpinnings from the Franc, the 2015 has much to offer. The blend is 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94)Coming from more hard-packed limestone and clay soils next to Château Fonroque and the standard blend of 80/20 Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the deep purple-hued 2017 Les Asteries is a step up from the other releases from Maltus and has rocking levels of blackcurrants, plums, chocolate, crushed rocks, and violets on the nose. This carries to a full-bodied, powerful wine that has beautiful concentration, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from short-term cellaring and cruise for 15-20 years in cool cellars. |

Jeb Dunnuck (98-100)Even better and a monumental wine in the making, the profound 2010 Les Cailloux Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Centenaire (tasted just prior to bottling) smells of a Provencal street market and offers up gorgeous aromas kirsch, raspberry, dried flowers, spice-box, roasted meats, and licorice on the nose. Coming from a single plot of very old Grenache (there is a touch of Mourvedre in the blend) and aged all in tank, this exuberant, hedonistic-bent Châteauneuf-du-Pape is full-bodied on the palate and delivers a voluptuous, mouth filling texture, brilliant concentration, and a blockbuster finish. Eclipsing the ’07 and up there with the ’90 (I think even better), this is monumental stuff that every Châteauneuf-du-Pape lover needs to have in the cellar! |

Jeb Dunnuck (98+)Another brilliant year at this estate, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Centenaire displays a deeper hue than the 2022 and 2023 and is based on 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, completely destemmed and aged 24 months in concrete. It has a blockbuster nose of kirsch liqueur, roasted garrigue, licorice, iron, and some bloody nuances. These carry to a full-bodied Châteauneuf that has beautiful balance, ripe, building, firm tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It needs another 5-7 years, but this is a beautiful, layered, truly great Châteauneuf. Drink 2030-2050. |
