Nestled in the fertile valleys of Bordeaux, discover the opulent and full-bodied gem, La Connivence 2009. Esteemed winemakers Pierre Chariol and Claudine Vigneau carefully craft this prestigious French wine in limited quantities, paying homage to Pomerol's illustrious wine heritage. Vintage after a perfect growing season, La Connivence 2009 is an exquisite blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Fruit ripened to perfection, hand-harvested, then meticulously sorted to uphold the wine's eminent quality. Stellar terroir influence melds with traditional vinification techniques; cold maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation, followed by 18 months maturation in French oak barrels, and finally, unfiltered bottling. La Connivence 2009 defines elegant decadence with its deep ruby hue, potent black fruit and truffle nose, and seamlessly integrated tannins. The opulent palate reveals an evolving complexity; a crescendo of dark berries, ripe plums, and hints of mocha with a lingering, velvety finish. Truly, a magnificent expression of Pomerol's quintessential elegance. |

Wine Advocate (94)Having tasted the 1982 Château La Conseillante on numerous occasions, it is fair to say that it has become overshadowed by the 1989 and 1990. Yet it remains not only a prosaically delicious Pomerol, but it represents the beginning of a new era for the estate after treading water since the 1960s. This was tasted blind. It has a beautiful, sensual if slightly faded bouquet with mulberry fruit tinged with sage and even a suggestion of black olive that tugs it towards Pessac-Léognan. It lacks the horsepower of the 1989 and 1990, but it is delineated and winsome. The palate is medium-bodied and is brimming over with both finesse and intensity. The quality of the vintage still comes through here, surprisingly deep and voluminous, not as structured as subsequent vintages, but gently fanning out with a subtle wild mushroom note betraying its age on the aftertaste. The bottom line is that this is a lovely, natural La Conseillante perfect for drinking now. Tasted March 2014. |

Wine Advocate (96)La Conseillante made an excellent wine in 2001, another great one in 2005, and the estate hit home runs in both 2008 and, above all, in 2009. In fact, the latter vintage may well end up being the modern-day reference point for La Conseillante. Nevertheless, there’s a lot to be said for this 2000. An elegant, gentle style that is never a blockbuster, the 2000 La Conseillante has a deep ruby/plum/purple color and an unbelievably expressive nose of sweet kirsch liqueur intermixed with raspberries, incense, toast, and licorice. Full-bodied yet ethereal in the sense that it seems to combine power along with eloquence and delicacy, this is a beautifully pure wine that has just hit its plateau of full maturity, although ideally I think it would benefit strongly from another 4-5 years of bottle age and drink well for two to three decades. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (97)The 2005 La Conseillante is a rich, heady Pomerol. Crème de cassis, lavender, chocolate, leather, espresso, licorice and sweet French oak infuse the 2005 with tremendous character. The 2005 is, naturally, a wine of its era. There is quite a bit of extraction and tannin, and yet the wine has aged impeccably. Time in the glass brings out energy and aromatic lift to round things out nicely. The 2005 just got better and better with time, so I suggest giving it a good bit of air. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade or so. |

Wine Advocate (95)The beautiful 2008 exhibits a dark plum/ruby/purple color as well as jammy red and black fruit, crushed rock and floral notes. If this were a Burgundy, one might think of it as a grand cru Musigny. With excellent texture, medium to full body and stunning purity as well as nobility, this fascinating Pomerol should drink well for 15-20 years. |

Wine Advocate (96)An absolutely amazing wine from the Nicolas family, this is from another estate in Pomerol that is pushing the envelope to higher and higher quality. The final blend has moved to smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, now approximately 20%, with the balance 80% Merlot. Through crop-thinning, yields have been reduced to an average of 35 hectoliters per hectare. Inky bluish/purple color and stunning sweet tannins embrace a full-bodied opulent Pomerol with beautiful, floral-infused black raspberry, blueberry and cassis fruit. Full-bodied, yet elegant, this is a brilliant marriage between finesse and power. Stunningly pure, this wine can be drunk young or age magnificently for 20 or more years. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (94)The 2014 La Conseillante has a very refined bouquet with expressive redcurrant, cranberry, rose petal and orange rind aromas that are very well defined. This seems to gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin that belies the structure underneath. There is still some new oak to be subsumed although it is totally in sync with the fruit, allowing the precision and detail to shine on the sophisticated finish. This is a strong showing for La Conseillante in a more challenging growing season that did not favour Pomerol as much as in 2015. Tasted at La Conseillante vertical at the property. |
