Vinous (89)Medium red. Pungent aromas of raspberry, cranberry, blood orange and mint turned slightly high-toned and exotic with air. Juicy and a bit herbal in the mouth, with flavors of cranberry and pomegranate supported by pronounced saline minerality. Delivers a strong overall impression of small wild red fruits. Two thousand thirteen was a bit like 2008 but with less sun and more rain at the end, noted Laurent Lignier. |

Vinous (88-90)(about 25% of the fruit was lost to frost): Bright, dark red with ruby tones. Quite open and aromatic on the nose, offering scents of black cherry and flowers. Nicely concentrated, sappy wine with a subtle sweetness to its flavors of cherry and black raspberry. This fruit was entirely destemmed but the wine finishes linear and firmly tannic, with good saline persistence. |

Vinous (87-89)The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Très Girard comes from purchased fruit. It has a refined bouquet with black fruit, black olive and light floral aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins on the entry. This is structured and strict, a little austere on the finish - hopefully it will gain some flesh by the time of bottling. |

Vinous (89-91)From purchased fruit, the 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Très Girard has a well-defined bouquet with vibrant red berry fruit, touches of white pepper and tea leaves. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, slightly chalky in texture with a fresh, saline finish. Give this Morey three to four years in bottle. |

Vinous (88-90)From a parcel just behind the Lignier maison, this 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Très Girard is made with purchased fruit. It has a commendable bouquet with quite floral red cherry and wild strawberry, hints of liquorice. The palate is medium-bodied with a rather peppery entry and fine grip. Not amazingly complex but it is bestowed with admirable density on the finish. Give it a couple of years in bottle. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)Offering up aromas of cassis, red berries, warm spices and loamy soil, the 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Trilogie is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a deep and youthfully tightly wound core of fruit that's framed by lively acids and powdery tannins. This is likely to emerge as Lignier's finest communal-level bottling this year, but it will also require the most patience. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, matured in 50% new oak, has a precocious bouquet with layers of opulent blackberry, cassis and redcurrant fruit, crushed violets bursting from the glass. This does not hold back. The palate is sweet and velvety smooth on the entry, fine tannins that frame the intense black cherry and cassis fruit with a judicious touch of spice towards the finish. Afford this 5-7 years in the cellar to tame its precocity. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru comprises two barrels, one new and one a year old. It has quite a backward nose, more tertiary in style, quite flinty, in fact. Blind, I would not guess this to be from this vineyard at all. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe black cherry and boysenberry fruit, fine mineralité and backbone. This is much more open, fanning out with style towards the finish that has just the right amount of edge. It's very fine but will require bottle age to unlock the aromatics. |

Burghound (92-94)(from a .123 ha parcel of 80+ year old vines situated mostly in terres blanches; about 600 bottles are produced each year). A discreet application of oak frames the overtly spice aromas of poached plum, dark cherry and violet. The rich, solidly concentrated and weighty larger-bodied flavors are at once supple yet powerful with a taut muscularity, all wrapped in a wonderfully persistent and complex finale where the only nit is a touch of warmth. In the context of the 2023 vintage, this is a big wine and one that will need at least moderate patience. |

Wine Advocate (93)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes has a delightful, crisp, delineated, beautifully poised bouquet with fine mineralité and tension. This is a top notch nose. The palate is seamless on the entry, silky smooth and utterly seductive, the acidity well judged. There remains some new oak to be absorbed, but there is plenty of fruit to absorb that with 4-5 years in bottle. This is a top notch vin de garde Chambolle-Musignny and there is not a great number of those this vintage. Tasted September 2016. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1Er Cru les Charmes comes from vines around 60-years-old. I like the volume and purity here -- just joyful black cherry and cassis fruit with an underlying mineralité that comes through more and more with time. The palate is crisp and slightly chalky in texture, grippy in the mouth, much more masculine that the nose suggests with firm structure imparting linearity towards the lightly peppered finish. This is an excellent Chambolle Charmes that will drink well over the next 8-15 years. |

Wine Advocate (93)Cropped at a modest 32 hectoliters per hectare, the 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes unfurls in the glass with an enticing bouquet of ripe cherries, dark chocolate, spices and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a textural attack, excellent depth and dimension at the core and velvety structuring tannins. It's a real success in the gourmand style of the vintage. |
