Vinous (87-90)Perfumed aromas of dark berries, wildflowers and violets. Lovely sweetness in the mouth. Vibrant, fresh and delineated, but rounder than usual for this cru. Subtle hint of maraschino cherry on the finish. Showing very well today. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (90-92)Good red-ruby. Complex, wild aromas of blackberry, violet, minerals, smoke and underbrush. Very dense and sappy, with impressively intense flavors of blackberry and crushed stone. The strongest but also the most austere of these young 2003s, with the explosive finish featuring a whiplash of black fruits and crushed stone. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93-96)(September malo): Good bright, deep red. Highly perfumed nose offers red raspberry, cherry, minerals and flowers. Sweet and seamless in the mouth, with outstanding intensity and purity of red fruit, floral, spice and mineral flavors. Finishes with great sappy, building length, with the fruit blowing past the tannins. This has the length of a grand cru; in fact, I'd put this up against some very good examples of Bonnes-Mares. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Véroilles 1er Cru, whose 0.38 hectares will be labeled monopole from next year, has a straightforward bouquet that perhaps does not quite deliver the same complexity as the other Premier Crus. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-fresh opening; veins of orange peel and marmalade tincture the dark berry fruit, and a tang of oyster shell emerges toward the precise finish. Very fine. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Véroilles 1er Cru has a very precise bouquet with perfumed, extremely well focused red fruit infused with rose petals. The palate is defined by filigreed tannins, and the fruit gains weight toward one of the most impressive finishes from Ghislaine Barthod, delivering real mineralité and tension. Highly recommended. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Véroilles 1er Cru has the richest bouquet with traces of cassis and raspberry fruit, intermixed with violet petals. This is showy and generous. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent sweet and fleshy candied red fruit, almost like a sorbet-fresh Grenache, but it is most definitly Pinot with a beautiful silky finish. |

Vinous (88-90)Pretty medium red. Fresh raspberry and mineral aromas. Pliant and sweet in the mouth, with a succulent quality. Very red fruit in character, in the style of the Chatelots, but with minerality accentuated by the wine's firm acidity. A bit tighter than usual for this cuvee, and developing slowly. Good firm, lingering finish. This was 12.8% potential alcohol, at the high end for this estate in 2004. |

Vinous (90-92)Bright red with ruby tones. Crushed black fruits and cherry on the nose, lifted by notes of mint, rock and orange zest. Pliant but firm wine with thickness, clarity and lift. Sappy flavors of medicinal dark cherry, spices and red licorice display excellent balance and depth. A strong performance for this cuvée, from a crop that was off by 50% due to the frost. This reminded me of the superb 1993 bottling. |

Decanter (94)This old vine cuvée from a 0.72ha parcel is typical of the domaine's style: feminine if you like, or just fragrant and elegant. Showing subtle reduction that promises a bright future in bottle, it's chalky, minerally and precise with focussed red fruit flavours and lacy tannins. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Beaux Bruns 1er Cru has one of the most elegant bouquets from Ghislaine Barthod, offering beautiful, seductive red currant, crushed strawberry and crushed rose petal aromas. The palate is very well defined, with strict tannins framing dark berry fruit laced with soy and black pepper. A little introverted toward the finish. Very fine. |

Wine Advocate (92-94+)Always one of the most immediate, charming wines in Barthod's range, the 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Beaux Bruns is nonetheless especially elegant this year. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet berry fruit, peonies, blood orange and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a beautifully pure, dynamic core of fruit, exquisitely refined tannins and a long, precise finish. It's a magical Beaux Bruns in the making. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Beaux Bruns 1er Cru, which sees just a little new oak, has a fragrant, floral bouquet with wilted rose petals infusing the vibrant red fruit. Excellent delineation here, very elegant. The palate has a little more grip than the Chatelots, more salinity, particularly on the finish that displays a hint of black olive. Very fine. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Beaux Bruns 1er Cru has an attractive nose, a mélange of red and black fruit, sous-bois, crushed stone and rose petals. It displays more vigour than the Chambolle-Charmes. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red cherry and strawberry fruit, desiccated orange peel and white pepper. Not complex yet it demonstrates more length than some of the other cuvées. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (92-94)The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Beaux Bruns 1er Cru has a deeper, richer, more tertiary nose than the preceding Aux Combottes. Touches of brown spice emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, good structure and complexity. This is a little sauvage and savory toward the lingering finish. It's not quite up there with the superlative 2022, but it will give 15 to 20 years of drinking pleasure. |

Vinous (92)Bright red-ruby. Subtly perfumed, very complex aromas of raspberry, strawberry, minerals, red licorice and exotic hints of apricot and grapefruit. The biggest and sweetest of these '96s; really lush and full, combining superb lingering sweetness with a large structure. The even tannins are thoroughly enrobed by thick, sappy red fruit. Very impressive. |

Decanter (96)Ghislaine Barthod's two parcels of Charmes are both in the more southerly part of the premier cru and can make one of the more reticent wines in her line up. That's far from the case here though, as this is all about rose petal and summer berry aromas with bright, vivacious acidity, subtle 30% new oak integration and a sweet, lingering finish. |
