Vinous (94)

The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Le Clos 1er Cru which comes from the walled vineyard, the only officially-recognised Premier Cru monopole of 2.68ha, the vines east-facing on three soils - clay at the bottom, marl in the middle and limestone at the top. It was picked on 30 August. The nose is quite reticent at first, so leaving the wine in my glass for 10 minutes, it really opens and shows its complexity thanks to the mélange of soils, honeysuckle and dried honey, lime and faint hints of liquorice. The palate is very well balanced with good depth, real weight and presence here, texturally-satisfying with impressive persistence on the finish. Excellent, but wise owls will cellar this for several years before broaching.

Chateau Fuisse Pouilly Fuisse Le Clos 2022 epitomises the elegance and sophistication of the Burgundy region. Meticulously crafted in the esteemed Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, this exceptional Chardonnay emerges from the revered Le Clos vineyard, renowned for its premier terroir. Under the stewardship of the esteemed Moreau family, the grapes are hand-harvested, ensuring optimal ripeness and purity. Fermented in a combination of stainless steel and selective oak barrels, the wine benefits from both precise fruit expression and nuanced complexity. Ageing on the lees enhances its texture, imparting a creamy richness balanced by vibrant acidity. The 2022 vintage showcases a golden hue, with aromas of ripe pear, white peach, and subtle minerality. On the palate, it unfolds layers of citrus zest, flint, and a lingering, refined finish. Chateau Fuisse Pouilly Fuisse Le Clos 2022 is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship, offering connoisseurs a distinguished wine experience.

Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)

The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Le Clos 1er Cru is more closed on the nose compared to the Les Brulés, though well defined and just requiring more time in bottle. The palate is well balanced with a touch of mint and white pepper on the entry. Light in grip but with fine body and depth, this fans out with a little more chutzpah than the Les Brulés on the finish. Very promising.

Very pale apricot color with aromas of peaches, sliced apples, jasmine, wet stones and watermelon. It's medium-bodied with bright acidity and succulent layers of ripe fruit. Juicy and packed with flavor, yet fresh and elegant. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)

The 2019 Le Boscq is fabulous. A rush of wild cherry, smoke, licorice, tobacco, incense and scorched earth races across the palate. This deep, flavorful Saint-Estèphe is wonderfully expressive today. I would give the tannins a few years to soften. Le Boscq is a great choice for readers who want to explore the appellation without splurging on some of the bigger names.

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)

The 2020 Le Boscq still has that expressive, overtly floral bouquet with bunches of pressed violet infusing the black cherry and boysenberry fruit. Quite powerful and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, touches of black olive, fine depth with a slightly chewy finish that would benefit from a little more delineation and finesse. But I like this sturdy Saint-Estèphe and it should cellar well for a decade.

A classic Saint-Estèphe, the 2022 Château Le Boscq reveals darker fruits, leafy herbs, tobacco, and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied, it has pure, fine tannins, terrific balance, and a rounded, supple mouthfeel. Aged in oak barrels, this should drink well for 15+ years.
