Fantastic aromas of flowers such as violets and roses with dark purple fruits and hints of stones, too. Full body with ultra-fine tannins and a long and linear finish. The 2019 Solengo seduces with its richly decadent display of vanilla and mocha-tinged dark fruits and spices, which are wonderfully lifted by minty herbal tones and white smoke. This enters the palate like weighted velvet, smooth and fleshy at first, yet lively, as mineral-tinged black currants mix with fine-grained tannins, clamping down with youthful poise. Like the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove, this tapers off incredibly long and staining, with echoes of licorice beneath an air of cedar and tobacco; yet somehow, through it all, the palate is left watering for more. It will be many years before the 2019 is ready to show its best, but it will certainly be worth the wait. The Solengo is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Sangiovese that spends eighteen months refining in a combination of 60% new to 40% second-pass barriques.Inc. GSTSG$499.53 -

Stunning from the first tilt of the glass, the 2021 Solengo lifts from the glass with an expressive bouquet of crushed blackberries and cherries, with sage and mint nuances to complement as a whiff of crushed ashen stone adds lovely complexity. Though silken and weighty upon entry, it quickly livens up as a core of brilliant acidity adds lift to its dark red and black fruits. Edgy tannins inform the long and structured finish, leaving the palate aching with youthful intensity even as dark primary fruits still saturate it. The 2022 Solengo slowly evolves in the glass with a collage of crushed blackberries, dried rosemary, shavings of blood orange and graphite. It’s silken in feel, displaying amazing density offset by a crunchy core of minerality and riveting acidity that further enhances its tart wild berry fruits. This finishes with hulking structure, leaving edgy tannins to mingle with blackcurrants and a cascade of violet inner florals, while tapering off with staining length. Bury this deep in the cellar. For the 2023 Solengo, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Petit Verdot is joined by the small addition of Cabernet Franc for the first time. The wine sports a saturated red/purple hue and a ripe, inviting nose of baked blackberries, plum, black olive, lavender, and fresh earth. It was aged for 18 months in 60% new French barriques. Full-bodied, it has polished tannins and a gamey richness that comes through on the palate, with refreshing acidity and a warming finish. It’s still a baby at this stage and will benefit from time in bottle. Drink 2028-2040.Inc. GSTSG$692.59 -
Emanating from the verdant landscapes of Sardinia, the Argiolas Isola Nuraghi Korem 2018 is a remarkable Italian red wine offering an unparalleled oenological experience. This sublime blend of Bovale, Carignano, and Cannonau grapes, meticulously crafted by the renowned Argiolas family, undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks before maturing gracefully in French oak barrels.
Boasting an engagingly deep ruby hue, Korem delivers an intense and complex palette. Scents of wild berries and sour cherries infuse the air, underlain with a rich nuance of balsamic hints and sweet spices. On the palate, it enraptures with considerable harmony and elegance, a softness that belies the firm structure and well-balanced acidity. Trailing off, the Korem leaves a persistent, spicy hint that beckons a second taste.
Savour the Argiolas Isola Nuraghi Korem 2018 at leisure, perfectly matched with flavoursome dishes, or treasured in a discerning collector's cellar.

Deep ruby with a pale rim. Very intense, complex nose of sweet ripe red fruit, plums macerated in alcohol, cinnamon, nutmeg and milk chocolate. Then surprisingly bright and precise on the palate given the almost opulent nose, with a suave, velvety mouthfeel and rich, ripe red cherry, sweet spice and cocoa flavors that makes this very reminiscent of a late harvest wine. Tastes extremely young and fresh; I would never have guessed it was almost twenty years old. In 1998, there was a little more Carignano and Bovale in the blend and less of the Malvasia Nera. Still the latter grape variety’s presence is very obvious on the long smooth finish which features hints of camphor and an almost pungent floral quality.Inc. GSTSG$252.05 -
Argyros Cuvee Monsignori 2018 exemplifies the pinnacle of fine winemaking, meticulously crafted in the renowned Argyros Estate nestled in the heart of Santorini, Greece. This exceptional cuvée is a harmonious blend of indigenous Assyrtiko grapes, meticulously harvested from volcanic soils that impart a distinctive minerality and vibrant acidity. Under the expert guidance of the Argyros family, whose legacy spans generations, the grapes undergo a precise fermentation process in stainless steel tanks to preserve their pure expression. The wine is then aged gracefully in French oak barrels for twelve months, allowing subtle nuances of citrus and floral notes to develop alongside its crisp, elegant structure. Argyros Cuvee Monsignori 2018 boasts a luminous golden hue, enticing aromas of lemon zest and white blossoms, culminating in a refined palate with a lingering, refreshing finish. Perfectly balanced and sophisticated, this vintage is a testament to Argyros’ unwavering commitment to excellence and terroir-driven viticulture.

(an 85/15 blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon): Bright, green-tinged yellow. Lovely perfume combines pungent lime skin, stone fruits, lemon drop and essential oils. Dense, sappy and opulent yet somehow weightless, conveying a powerful impression of energy to the flavors of nectarine, lime oil and honey. The semillon contributes roundness. Finishes sexy and long, in need of a year or so in bottle to develop more complexity. Always a splendid blend.Inc. GSTSG$643.75 -

5 Star Wine. No deeper in colour but immediately the nose shows that we are in the presence of serious quality. There is even more to this, along with a touch of coconut from the barrel. The fruit is fully ripe red, thinking about sliding towards the black but not going that far. The acidity comes over in the form of a high-class mineral line threading its way across the palate. Not as sensual as the Clos St-Denis but there is even more to it. Brilliant wine in the finesse key of the best of the vintage. Drink from 2030-2038.Inc. GSTSG$831.21 -

A bright fresh mid purple. The bouquet is superb, in a really lush and almost creamy red berry fruit, not as wild as some until a little savoury touch at the finish. Complex, a fine weave to the texture, with pure red berry fruit coming out at the finish. Despite its location I tend to think of Bonnes Mares as a Morey style Grand Cru, but you can certainly see the touch of Chambolle in this. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: November 2023.Inc. Bright and even purple. An ever-increasing depth of ripe raspberry on the nose, yet with some stricter savoury qualities too. Bright and even purple. An ever-increasing depth of ripe raspberry on the nose, yet with some stricter savoury qualities too. Seamless on the palate, unsure of which commune it lies in, close to giving the best of both. A cousin to Chambolle yet with marked Morey tendencies. The complexity continues across the palate (Morey) while the finish has additional sensuality (Chambolle). Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Dec 2024.In BondSG$3,055.00
