Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (96)
As with most Napa estates in 2020, BV Private Reserve was low yielding after a dry year, and is knitted down with black pepper, crayon, earth, cassis and grilled cocoa bean flavours, full of spiced pleasure. There is a luscious underpinning of acidity also, with muscular tannins that allow the juice to flow through them while holding everything in place. A 2020 vintage that has been carefully handled, where all wine lots were treated separately for the entire winemaking process and kept in stainless steel tanks to be able to fully track flavours before putting in 95% French oak. Lastly, the flagship 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges De Latour Private Reserve is in the same ballpark as the 2019 and is an incredibly elegant yet concentrated 2021 that does everything right. Purple-hued, with ample cassis, wild sage, graphite, and darker chocolate-like aromatics, it picks up a Graves-like gravelly earth character with air and is full-bodied, has ripe, polished tannins, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. As with many of the top 2021s, it s a touch reserved and closed and needs 4-5 years of bottle age, but will drink well for 30 years.Inc. GSTSG$1,046.63 -

The 2019 Beaumont impresses on the nose with intense blackberry and briary aromas, sous-bois and tobacco, all whilst maintaining its delineation. The palate is supple and silky on the entry. There is well judged acidity, plenty of cedar and seaweed, tinged black fruit and a spicy finish. Now, this is a bloody great Beaumont.Inc. GSTSG$391.22 -

I loved the 2022 Château Beaumont, a richly textured, medium to full-bodied, concentrated 2022 that does everything right. Darker currants, smoky cherries, spicy wood, and leather-like notes all define the aromatics, and it's nicely balanced, with plenty of mid-palate depth and velvety tannins. Count me in as a fan. The 2022 is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot.Inc. GSTSG$263.17 -
(6x75cl) 2023Jeb Dunnuck (88-90)
Deep ruby/plum-hued, the 2023 Château Beaumont offers up a beautiful nose of red and black currants, leafy herbs, spice, and a hint of flowers. It's balanced, medium-bodied, has some classy, chocolaty oak, and ripe tannins. A rock solid Haut-Médoc, it has outstanding potential, if not a tad more.Inc. GSTSG$202.09 -

Immediately delicious, this is a sexy Pomerol with reserves of tannin to hold it sweet and fresh. The deep woodland cherry flavors last, plumped by tannins that give it an earthy edge. A hint of tangerine zest in the aroma shows the ripeness of the vintage. Suited to drinking over the next ten years, to serve with beef grilled over vine cuttings.Inc. GSTSG$1,480.18 -

Vinous - Ian D'Agata (86-88)
Good full ruby-red. Spicy aromas of blueberry, coffee and bitter chocolate. Quite suave on entry, then sweet, lush and deep in the middle, with good lift to the cassis, coffee and violet flavors. Turns a touch austere on the firmly structured, persistent aftertaste.Inc. GSTSG$383.11 -
Wine Advocate (90)
From an historic estate in Pomerol dating back to the 18th century, the 2012 Beauregard (70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc) is a successful effort. The wine is dense ruby/purple and shows loads of licorice, blackcurrant and black cherry in a dense, medium to full-bodied very pure, rich style. This is somewhat of a sleeper of the vintage in Pomerol and very noteworthy. This should drink well for 10-15 years.Inc. GSTSG$470.23 -
Wine Advocate (94)
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Beauregard is a little closed on the nose, opening to warm black plums, blackberries and mulberries with touches of chocolate box and dried herbs plus violets hints. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm, grainy and packed with muscular fruit, finishing long and earthy.Inc. GSTSG$289.72 -
