Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96-98)(5 Star Wine) Medium deep purple. The bouquet offers great promise, not flamboyant, a savoury red fruit but with depth behind. Nothing on the nose to say this is a stunning wine but just wait till you put it into your mouth! Such an explosion of rich ripe red fruited pinot, with a plush velvet texture which covers the tannins which are surely there for the long term future. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: October 2023. |

Vinous (92)Full medium red. Medicinal cherry and oak aromas are energized by minerals and pungent blood orange. Very primary and sharply delineated, with bitter cherry and saline mineral flavors complemented by an exotic floral character. Juicy, tightly wound and serious but already conveying strong personality. |

Vinous (94+)Bright medium red. Spicy, youthfully imploded nose hints at raspberry, rose petal and gingerbread; classic Clos Saint-Denis. Juicy, spicy and intense in the mouth, with terrific tension and cut to the flavors of sweet red berries and minerals. Linear today but not at all lean. Finishes very long and firmly tannic, at once delicate and palate-staining. Really penetrating minerality and energy here, and nowhere near ready to drink. Boasts outstanding potential. |

Vinous (92-95)Deep, bright red. Lovely energy and lift to the aromas and flavors of red fruits, brown spices, dried flowers and sexy oak. Broad and dry on the palate, offering superb density and lift and a saline complexity that adds another dimension. This ripely tannic Clos Saint-Denis strikes me as unusually powerful for the vintage and for the cru. But that's no complaint. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2016 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has a clean and pure bouquet with ample smoke-tinged blackberry and raspberry fruit, controlled and focused, the mineral scents emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannin, plenty of dusky red fruit laced with graphite, although it deserves more complexity and detail to come through ont he finish. That may come with time. It is not up there with the outstanding 2015 but it is still extremely fine. |

Vinous (95-97)The 2017 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru, which contains "a few stems," according to winemaker Frédéric Barnier, has a gorgeous bouquet of raspberry, cranberry and touches of crushed stone and orange pith - one of the finest aromatics from Jadot this year. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, demonstrating more weight and fruit intensity than its sibling Clos de la Roche. There is grip, focus and a sense of purpose whereas the Clos de la Roche seems to drink more easily. Superb. |

Jancis Robinson (17.5++)Ripe and smoky on the nose, powerful and warm. The palate is very ripe, bordering on overripe before a cut of bright acidity and refined powdery tannins. Vinous (93-95)The 2012 Clos Vougeot is one of the most impressive of the Grand Crus I tasted at Jadot this year. Powerful, rich and layered, the 2012 has more than enough fruit to balance the tannins. Dark red fruit, scorched earth, chalk and iron are all layered into the supple, racy finish. This is a surprisingly finessed Clos Vougeot. Hints of rose petal and mint add lift on the close. There is so much to admire here. |

Tim Atkin MW (96)Full-bodied, bursting with ripe fruit and displaying a millefeuille of earthy notes, this is a head-turning Clos Vougeot. It is body builder material with all of its muscle, sinew and grit. The palate gleams with youthful fruit surrounded by corralled tannins and roaring acidity. Not for the faint of palate, but do let this calm down for at least half a decade. It has all the makings of a fascinating wine as it heads into more mature days. 2027-42 |

Jancis Robinson (17)Cask sample. Pale to mid garnet. Firm, well-integrated nose. Sweet start and quite substantial. I think this would show quite well in a blind tasting with its Clos de Vougeot peers. A trace of dry tannin on the end but that promises well for the future. Firm with a little sour-cherry flavour but quite majestic build – even if it’s not nearly as alluring as the Clos St-Jacques! |
