Jeb Dunnuck (97+)I also loved the 2016 Pinot Noir Arrendell Vineyard. Located in the Russian River and planted in 1975 to a heritage Martini Clone, this cool site struggles to ripen, giving this 2016 an exotic, complex, vibrant style along with its ample red and black fruits, candied violets, potpourri, and sandalwood. It’s one of the more vibrant, racier wines in the lineup, yet its acidity is nicely integrated, it’s flawlessly balanced, and it has a great, great finish. Give bottles a year or two and enjoy over the following decade. |

Jeb Dunnuck (98)The 2018 Pinot Noir Far Coast Vineyard comes from a site not far from the Pacific Ocean, in the Sonoma Coast AVA, and it's one of the bigger, richer wines in the lineup in 2018. Deeper ruby-hued, with a stunning nose of ripe mulberries, Bing cherries, candied strawberries, spring flowers, and orange blossom, this is a spicy, medium to full-bodied, impressively concentrated Pinot Noir. Despite being from a cooler vineyard, it brings plenty of richness and sexy fruit, with a certain exotic character. I've always loved this cuvée (although I've always thought the Chardonnay was slightly more successful), but this might be the finest vintage I've tasted to date. Count me impressed. It's going to have 10-15 years of prime drinking. It's one of the finest Pinot Noirs in this report. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2015 Haut-Condissas had been bottled a week before my visit. That said, there does not appear to be too much bottle shock, and there are lovely black cherry, cassis fruit tinged with incense and violets. The oak is neatly integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, an attractive saline note that lends this 2015 sappiness and neatly counterbalances the concentration of the vintage. I appreciate the focus here and the nascent energy, a Haut-Condissas that should easily give 20+ years of pleasure. Tasted at the Haut-Condissas vertical at the property. |

Embodying the renowned terroir of Saint Emilion, the Haut Gravet 2019 is a stellar exposition of meticulous winemaking. Produced by the notable Le Château Haut Gravet, this rich Bordeaux blend emanates a robust bouquet of black fruit, accompanied by balanced overtones of spices and earthiness. Born from a vineyard with a 90-year history, the wine's distinctive complexity is fortified by its rigorous ageing process in new French oak barrels for a period of 16 months. A minerality signature to its limestone-rich soil elevates the decadent flavour profile, making it an unmissable piece in any wine connoisseur's collection. The Haut Gravet 2019 is not just a wine; it's a captivating testament to the winemaker's craft, a nod to the production region's birthright, and an absolute delight for the senses. Indulge in this deep and full-bodied expression of sophistication and celebrate the authentic essence of Saint Emilion. |

Wine Advocate (87+)This wine reveals an element of jammy black currant fruit intermixed with dried roasted herbs, sweet earthy smells, and new oak. It offers excellent definition, moderate tannin, medium to full body, and a long finish. As the wine sits in the glass, elements of the Cabernet Sauvignon's sur-maturite become noticeable. It is a potential sleeper, and possibly a realistic value because Haut-Bages-Liberal rarely sells for an excessive price. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2017. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2015 Haut-Bages Libéral is one of the best releases in recent years. It has an elegant bouquet of refined black cherry and crushed strawberry aromas; the oak here is very well knitted. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grainy tannin, layers of black fruit laced with tar and tobacco, and firm but not overbearing grip on the finish. Good aging potential here. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94-96)The 2021 Haut-Bages Libéral is one of the best wines I have ever tasted from Claire Lurton. Dense, powerful and explosive, with dazzling intensity Haut-Bages Libéral races across the palate, offering up an enticing mélange of ripe red-fleshed fruit, blood orange, cedar and spice. Bright acids lend vibrancy throughout a Pauillac I won't soon forget tasting. Haut-Bages Libéral is one of my early favorites on the Left Bank in 2021. Yields were 30 hectoliters per hectare versus the more typical 40 or so, not a bad result at all for the year given the biodynamic farming practices in place. |
