From a 13-hectare estate located north and slightly west of the village of Saint-Emilion, the 2015 Château Corbin is mostly Merlot blended with 17% Cabernet Franc, all of which comes from sandier, clay soils. It offers ample notes of ripe cherries, strawberries, dried herbs and bouquet garni, with a beautiful floral quality developing with time in the glass. Ripe, undeniably sexy and polished on the palate, with full-bodied richness and ultra-fine tannin, give bottles a few year and drink over the following 10-15. Tasted three times.

This has an unwonted, intensely floral note of eucalyptus and tee tree oil, which makes it immediately recognizable against other 2015 Brunellos. Besides that, there are ripe rose stems and dried lavender. It has a racy core of boisterous berries that dive inwards and outwards of firm, structured tannins. The juxtaposition of steely resolve and intense florals are quite remarkable. Very classy. Drink from 2025.

The 2008 Barolo Enrico VI is a beautiful wine that impresses for its textural elegance and sheer harmony. The aromas and flavors come together beautifully in this sumptuous, texured Barolo. Dark plums, spices, menthol and minerals are woven together in this fleshy, generous Enrico VI. This is a gorgeous Barolo with plenty of upside potential. The Enrico VI is made from the Villero vineyard in Castiglione Falletto.

The 2011 Barolo Enrico VI is the sweetest and most floral of the 2011s. Rose petal, cinnamon, mint, sweet red cherries and kirsch meld together in a supple, expressive Barolo that will offer a long and broad window of pure drinking pleasure. This is an unusually open Villero from Cordero di Montezemolo. At the same time, there is plenty of nuance and subtlety in the glass.

The 2012 Barolo Enrico VI, from the Villero vineyard in Castiglione Falleto, is a deep, beautifully layered wine. Dark cherry, plum, new leather, menthol and licorice all flesh out effortlessly. The 2012 is rich and expansive, with striking depth and terrific overall balance.

Sweet red cherries, flowers, mint, licorice and spices are all woven together nicely. In 2009, the entry-level Monfalletto impresses for its balance and overall sense of harmony. It remains the most delicate Barolo in the range while clearly overachieving within the context of the year. I don't expect the 2009 to be a super long-term ager, but it sure is gorgeous today. This is a terrific showing from Alberto Cordero di Montezemolo and his team.
