Deep, bright red. Deep, musky aromas of blackberry, blueberry, boysenberry, mocha and wild herbs lifted by rose and lavender. Round, broad and silky, offering outstanding depth and sucrosité but also excellent grip. Wonderfully rich, full and complex, finishing with superb rising length and saline minerality. A great vintage for these younger Musigny vines, showing compelling purity of fruit.Inc. GSTSG$1,240.22 -

25% new oak. Allier. ‘Young’ vines (15-25 years old) in Le Musigny. Intense, very fruity and round. Pretty smashing! Much closer to a grand cru than a premier cru. Really exciting. Very fine tannins on the end.Inc. GSTSG$946.67 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru, from the young vines in Musigny, has more intensity than the Village Cru, coming across slightly more opaque and secretive. The palate is beautifully balanced with saturated tannin and a fine thread of acidity. Full of energy that flows through the sorbet-fresh finish, and silky-smooth in texture. This oft-overlooked cuvée comes highly recommended. Superb.Inc. GSTSG$1,654.31 -
Vinous (91-93)
Medium red. Classic aromas of raspberry, flowers, minerals and iron. Sweeter and suppler than the village wine, with very good density of material and grip but a light touch. Tangy, intense, pure and elegant, with a distinctly rocky aspect to the raspberry fruit. Precise and very long. A superb showing.Inc. GSTSG$11,918.50 -
Vinous (90-93)
(racked a week before my tasting) Medium red. Lively aromas of raspberry, minerals, flowers and menthol. Suave, sappy and juicy, with lovely sneaky flavor intensity to the deep red fruit and mineral flavors. Finishes quite dry and pure, with building, dusty tannins, firm mineral grip and lovely lingering perfume.Inc. GSTSG$2,283.44 -
Wine Advocate (94-95)
The de Vogue 2008 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is alluringly scented with iris, red raspberry, citrus oils, and illusive intimations of crystalline, crushed stone minerality. The richness of fruit here does indeed support Millet’s description of “syrup,” but at the same time, one could hardly do better than accept his characterization of this particular wine as displaying “the synergy between natural minerality and the freshness of the 2008 vintage.” There is a subtlety and transparency of fruit to mineral and floral nuances here reminiscent of water color, a metaphor of mine with which Millet is willing to go along on several levels, including its support of his notion that the fruit character of the vintage is fragile, but that once captured in bottle in timely fashion will not easily fade. I would expect great things from this deeply complex yet ethereal, persistently shimmering beauty over the next 12-15 years.Inc. GSTSG$4,719.43 -
Vinous (92-94)
Deep, bright red. Subtle, pure nose offers black raspberry, black cherry, mint, menthol and a hint of citrus skin. Wonderfully silky and sweet but the black fruit flavors come off more savory than sugary owing to the wine's strong limestone character. Finishes sappy, uncompromisingly dry and very long, with firm tannins and lovely mineral and floral lift.Inc. GSTSG$1,229.79 -
Jancis Robinson (18)
Bright crimson. Strong mineral element on the nose. Not at all sweet and perfumed. More of a sportsman – rigorous and muscular. Very pure and fresh. Sappy. Not flattering but speaks its mind.Inc. GSTSG$1,389.64 -
Wine Advocate (94-96)
The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Amoureuses is very different from the Chambolle Premier Cru, This explodes with blueberry and blackberry, wilted violets and then later, a touch of boysenberry jam. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe dark cherry fruit, a vein of white pepper, fine structured and very pure with superb tension and mineralité bursting through on the finish. This is a divine Amoureuses, probably more approachable when young compared to recent vintages, but with the substance to age as this cuvée has an inclination to do.Inc. GSTSG$1,335.14 -
Wine Advocate (95-97)
The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses has a very pure and seductive bouquet with both blood orange and orange rind infusing the black fruit, beautifully focused and with perhaps a greater degree of transparency than many recent vintages. You can feel the terroir here. The palate is underpinned by fine tannin and superb tension. There is a surfeit of energy here, avoiding any heaviness with effortless ease, those Asian spices and a pinch of white pepper enlivening the focused and sophisticated finish. This will equal the two grand crus in the long-term.Inc. GSTSG$2,080.35 -
Vinous (94)
The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has an opulent and high-toned bouquet, quite Bonnes-Mares in style, with copious red and blue fruit laced with wilted violet petals. The oak comes across a little stronger here although it is simpatico with the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin, ripe and vivacious, almost confit-like. There are layers of blue fruit towards the finish that evolves a slightly chalky texture, but there is very good persistency here. Superb. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.Inc. GSTSG$1,416.89 -
Wine Advocate (92-94)
The most elegant wine in the cellar is the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses, a classy offering that bursts with aromas of black raspberries, cherries, rose petals, dark chocolate, spices and grilled squab. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with an ample core of fruit, melting tannins and a long, sappy finish.Inc. GSTSG$1,617.46 -
Burghound (93-96)
(from a .56 ha parcel). A wonderfully spicy and exuberantly fresh nose offers up notes of dark berries, lavender, rose petal, jasmine tea and a whiff of sandalwood. The super-sleek and almost painfully intense flavors are incredibly fine and when allied with good richness and minerality, it makes for an almost irresistible texture on the balanced finish that flashes both huge length and focused power. This is a marvelously classy Amoureuses that should amply repay extended keeping. In a word, brilliant. (93-96)/2036+Inc. GSTSG$3,905.99 -
Burghound (95)
(Outstanding) A gorgeous, and markedly floral, nose offers up a plethora of spice elements on the cool, pure and beautifully layered red berry and plum liqueur scents. The mouthfeel of the tension-filled and overtly mineral-inflected middleweight flavors is equally gorgeous before culminating in a highly persistent, balanced and youthfully austere finale. This sophisticated effort is terrific and a wine that should age effortlessly though note well that this too is also clearly built for the long haul.Inc. GSTSG$1,748.62 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (97)
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru shows the positive effect that winemaker Jean Lupatelli has had at this address, with this bottle far exceeding my predictions from barrel. It has a wonderful bouquet—ethereal red fruit laced with crushed stone and undergrowth, precise and quite compelling. The oak is seamlessly integrated, as are the stems. The palate is very well balanced with pliant tannins that frame the backward mainly black fruit laced with blueberry. Real mineralité, real tension and bite. This lingers so long in the mouth that you could probably read War & Peace in Russian before its residual taste disappears. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.Inc. GSTSG$1,491.75 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)
Planned to pull out 30% of the holding, but in the end 40% made more sense. So there is just 60% left of old virused vines. Hence only 3.5 barrels. Bright mid purple. The bouquet has a delicious, lifted, velvety red fruit. Floral and seductive, entirely red fruit, nothing black, so not too ripe, and with abundant energy. Fresh and even slightly peppery at the finish. Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted: November 2023.Inc. GSTSG$1,828.43 -
(6x75cl) 2006Wine Advocate (91)
The de Vogue 2006 Chambolle-Musigny – incorporating some of the young vines of Musigny plus non-cru parcels – smells alluringly of jellied red fruits, brown spices, candied citrus zest, white truffle, and iris. Sweetly-fruited and polished in texture, its bitter-sweet sense of herbal concentrate as well as it reserve of primary fresh fruit juiciness combine for a finish of refreshment, buoyancy, and invigoration that is – in a paradoxical but vintage-typical way – also caressing. You feel very comfortable with it, says Millet trenchantly of this wine and the vintage as a whole. Both floral and subtly marrowy meaty elements persist here as well. This should be a delight over the next half dozen years.Inc. GSTSG$3,977.96 -
(6x75cl) 2008Vinous (92)
The 2008 Chambolle-Musigny is totally finessed and haunting. This shows tons of harmony in its crushed flowers, hard candy and berries, all of which flow gracefully towards the saline, mineral-drenched finish. With time in the glass the layers of fruit flesh out with notable beauty and elegance. The Chambolle is a classic, translucent wine in 2008, and will delight readers who prefer the nuanced side of Burgundy.Inc. GSTSG$3,476.56 -
(6x75cl) 2009Vinous (93)
De Vogüé's 2009 Chambolle-Musigny was even better, as the vintage is so well suited to near-term drinking, especially at the village level. Totally seductive and engaging, the 2009 Chambolle was a thrill a minute to drink. There are times when wine is all about pure, unrestrained pleasure. This was one of those moments. What a fabulous bottle!Inc. GSTSG$4,036.77 -

The 2011 Chambolle-Musigny is a pretty, accessible wine, but today I get the impression the 2011 may be headed for a period of dormancy. The relaxed, easygoing personality of the vintage is in evidence, but the fruit isn't as generous or resonant as it was a years ago. I have seen the villages blossom with few years of bottle age, though, so I would give the 2011 time in bottle.Inc. GSTSG$386.86 -
(3x75cl) 2015Vinous (90+)
Full red-ruby. A ripe bowl of black cherries, blueberries and spices on the nose. Boasts a penetrating yet restrained sweetness and a superb balance of rich texture and fresh acidity. Superb texture for village wine. The tannins are serious but plush and nicely enrobed by the wine's strong material. Really spreads out horizontally to saturate the palate and build on the finish. I found this wine a tad extreme a year ago but not today.Inc. GSTSG$1,406.91 -
(1x150cl) 2017Vinous (90)
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a mixture of red and black fruit, plus hints of damp woodland and truffle lingering on the sidelines. The palate is well balanced with red currant and cranberry fruit on the entry, a fine bead of acidity and touches of Chinese five-spice and sage toward the finish. Fine.Inc. GSTSG$844.21 -
Vinous (88)
The 1979 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru does not come from a particularly noble period for the domaine. It has a briny nose that is missing some complexity and the pedigree one expects from this Grand Cru. That said, I find the palate more detailed than expected, with attractive black truffle scents interlacing the black fruit. It does not kick on toward the finish, but it will just about do. Drink soon.Inc. GSTSG$1,247.94 -
(1x75cl) 1986Vinous (94)
The 1986 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Blanc Grand Cru comes straight from the domaine. It has a gorgeous honeysuckle, quince and nutmeg scented bouquet that leans towards the Rhône in style (a trait I have discerned in recent vintages). There is just a hint of baking powder in the background. The palate is well balanced and harmonious with notes of Nashi pear, Vervain tea and acacia honey, slightly viscous on the finish with moderate definition. This is a seductive white Musigny that could give many more years of drinking pleasure. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune.Inc. GSTSG$1,237.04 -
(1x75cl) 1990Wine Advocate (96)
This wine demands another 6-7 years of cellaring. Oddly, about three years ago it was giving signs of maturing quickly, but it has now completely shut down. The Bordeaux-like, saturated dense ruby/purple color is followed by a tight-fisted nose and flavors of black fruits, underbrush, minerals, smoke, and new oak. Although extremely concentrated, the wine is broodingly backward, and not fun to drink ... yet. This loaded effort should prove to be one of the longest-lived red Burgundies made in the last twenty years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025.Inc. GSTSG$1,846.36 -
(5x75cl) 1991Wine Advocate (93)
Wealthy collectors should not miss the opportunity to see whether the 1991 equals or surpasses the 1990 Musigny-Vieilles Vignes made at the Comte de Vogue. The saturated, dense purple color is magnificent. The big, yet unformed bouquet of framboise, cassis, vanillin, and minerals suggests the wine is loaded. It is. Powerful, rich, concentrated, and marvelously clean and pure, this irrefutably impressively endowed, large-scaled red burgundy exhibits a Medoc-like austerity and structure, as well as a squeaky clean, international style. It will be interesting to see what develops over the next 15-20 years. Do not drink it before the turn of the century; it should last an uncommonly long time for modern day burgundy. Very impressive!Inc. GSTSG$8,299.86

This is a seductive white Musigny that could give many more years of drinking pleasure. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune. In BondSG$1,125.00 -
(1x75cl) 1990Wine Advocate (96)
This wine demands another 6-7 years of cellaring. Oddly, about three years ago it was giving signs of maturing quickly, but it has now completely shut down. The Bordeaux-like, saturated dense ruby/purple color is followed by a tight-fisted nose and flavors of black fruits, underbrush, minerals, smoke, and new oak. Although extremely concentrated, the wine is broodingly backward, and not fun to drink ... yet. This loaded effort should prove to be one of the longest-lived red Burgundies made in the last twenty years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025.In BondSG$1,685.00 -
(5x75cl) 1991Wine Advocate (93)
Very impressive! In BondSG$7,570.00
