  • Colgin Tychson Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 (3x75cl)

    Vinous (96+)

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill is bright, focused and bristling with energy. In 2017, Tychson Hill is more overly tannic and structured than in most years, but all that means is that readers need to be a bit patient. A rush of black cherry, plum, lavender, mint and licorice builds as this explosive Cabernet Sauvignon gradually opens up in the glass. Heady and exotic in its beauty, the 2017 is positively stellar. It reminds me a bit of the 2001, a wine that needed years to soften and be at its very best. That may very well be the case here as well.
  • Colgin Tychson Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (3x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (100)

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill is straight-up off-the-charts and one of the true gems in the vintage. Revealing a deep purple hue as well as extraordinary notes of crème de cassis, white flowers, spice, tobacco, and classy oak, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, no hard edges, and just perfect integration of its fruit, tannins, and acidity. I’d happily enjoy a bottle today, but smart money would give these a solid 4-5 years in the cellar and it should keep for 30-40 years.

I love the purity of fruit to this delightful sangiovese with fresh hibiscus tea, rose petals and orange rind. Medium body, fine but serious tannins and a spicy, medium-chewy finish. Delicate and savory, but warm and hearty at the same time. As sangiovese should be. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.

All destemmed, aged for 18 months in demi-muids. Remarkable aromatic finesse already, boding well for the future; it majors on rich, ripe fruit rather than oak. Very full and rounded, but full of life and energy, this is buzzing with vitality. It has fresh, lip-smacking acidity and tannin, and a very long finish. Juicy and sharply focused on the mineral-inflected palate, offering intense, mineral-accented boysenberry, bitter cherry, licorice and violet pastille flavors with a touch of vanilla. The floral note comes back strong on the impressively long finish, which features youthfully grippy tannins and lingering spiciness. I also had the chance to try the 2010 version of this wine, and it was a knockout, with deep dark fruit character and suave floral and exotic spice accents. There's still plenty of structure present, so a little time in a decanter, or just plain old patience, is strongly advised.

Hailing from 20-year-old vines planted at 2,300 meters above sea level, the 2022 Auténtico Malbec matured for 10 months in predominately stainless steel and a portion of concrete eggs for 10 months. It opens with a distinctly savory, meaty nose of cracked pepper, cured meats, dried spices and purple flowers, introducing an intensely rich, svelte and lush palate. The finish is solid, sturdy and intensely mineral driven.

Indulgent and broad with plush textures and fine tannins, it offers pure flavors and remarkable palate intensity. The northern sun has made this long, powerful and full of flavor.
  • Colome Estate Malbec 2022 (6x75cl)

The 2022 Malbec Estate blends grapes from various Calchaquí Valley sites. Its 15 months of aging in 225- and 500-liter barrels with 25% new oak contributes complexity and character. Deep purple in color, it opens with blackberry, plum, spice and floral notes against an oaky backdrop. The palate mirrors these elements with juicy fruit, a plush texture, active tannins and a hint of chalk. The 2022 is long, flavorful and representative of northwest Argentina.

Looking better out of bottle than what I tasted out of barrel last year, Colombier's 2016 Hermitage features aromas of crushed stone, pencil shavings and cassis. Full-bodied, concentrated and intense without being overly tannic, it's finely balanced and long on the finish.

Lastly, the 2017 Hermitage got a big “wow” in the notes and boasts a powerful, concentrated style to go with sensational Hermitage notes of crème de cassis, scorched earth, and crushed rocks. It’s a sexy, voluptuous beauty that does everything right.

  • Colombier Hermitage 2018 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

Glass-staining ruby. Pungent dark berry preserve, floral pastille, botanical herb and olive aromas are complemented by hints of woodsmoke, licorice and pipe tobacco. Round and expansive in the mouth, offering appealingly sweet, mineral- and spice-accented blackberry, cherry-cola and candied violet flavors and a bitter chocolate nuance. Closes chewy, smoky and impressively long, with lingering spiciness and youthfully firm tannins. The balance of weight and energy here is superb.

  • Colombier Hermitage 2019 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

Inky ruby color. Powerful, mineral-accented black and blue fruit liqueur, incense, smoky bacon and potpourri aromas take on exotic spice and licorice nuances with air. Sappy, focused and deeply concentrated yet surprisingly lively as well, offering alluringly sweet blueberry, cassis, cherry-vanilla and candied violet flavors that are given back-end cut by building mineral and black pepper flourishes. The mineral and floral notes drive an extremely long, well-delineated finish, where dusty tannins provide shape and final grip.

  • Colombier Hermitage 2020 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (96)

Opaque violet color. A highly fragrant bouquet evokes fresh black and blue fruits, exotic spices, olive, pipe tobacco and candied flowers; a smoky mineral note builds as the wine opens up.

  • Colome Altura Maxima Malbec 2016 (3x75cl)

    Tim Atkin MW (97)

It’s not just because I’ve visited this spectacular site that I love the Malbec it produces, although that helps. This really is one of the great wines of the world, with amazing perfume of wild herbs and white pepper, layers of red and dark berry fruit, stylish oak, filigree tannins and a finish that lingers on the palate.

  • Colome Autentico Malbec 2022 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (92)

Hailing from 20-year-old vines planted at 2,300 meters above sea level, the 2022 Auténtico Malbec matured for 10 months in predominately stainless steel and a portion of concrete eggs for 10 months. It opens with a distinctly savory, meaty nose of cracked pepper, cured meats, dried spices and purple flowers, introducing an intensely rich, svelte and lush palate. The finish is solid, sturdy and intensely mineral driven.
  • Colome Autentico Malbec 2023 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2023 Malbec Auténtico comes from Estancia Colomé and is crafted in a primary, unoaked style. Intense purple, its aromas reveal blackberry, a hint of chili pepper and a sharp balsamic touch with notable intensity and slight reduction. Indulgent and broad with plush textures and fine tannins, it offers pure flavors and remarkable palate intensity. The northern sun has made this long, powerful and full of flavor.
  • Colome Estate Malbec 2022 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2022 Malbec Estate blends grapes from various Calchaquí Valley sites. Its 15 months of aging in 225- and 500-liter barrels with 25% new oak contributes complexity and character. Deep purple in color, it opens with blackberry, plum, spice and floral notes against an oaky backdrop. The palate mirrors these elements with juicy fruit, a plush texture, active tannins and a hint of chalk. The 2022 is long, flavorful and representative of northwest Argentina.
  • Colome, Lote Especial Bonarda, Salta 2023 (6x75cl)

Colome, Lote Especial Bonarda, Salta 2023 epitomises the pinnacle of Argentine winemaking. Cultivated in the high-altitude vineyards of Salta, this exquisite Bonarda benefits from over 3,500 metres above sea level, where intense sunlight and diurnal temperature variations enhance its vibrant flavour profile. Handpicked grapes undergo a meticulous selection process, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the varietal’s inherent fruitiness and acidity. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for twelve months, imparting subtle vanilla and spice notes without overshadowing its natural character. Colomé, a family-owned estate with a legacy spanning over a century, combines traditional técnicas with modern innovation to craft wines of exceptional quality and distinction. The 2023 vintage showcases deep ruby hues, offering aromas of ripe dark berries and a hint of floral undertones, culminating in a smooth, persistent finish. Ideal for discerning palates, this Bonarda exemplifies Colomé’s dedication to excellence.
