(6x150cl) 2016Wine Advocate (91-93)
The 2016 Le Boscq, owned by Vignobles Dourthe, is a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot and was picked 29 September until 20 October. This represents a move towards Cabernet Sauvignon and away from Merlot in the final blend. It has a very ripe, opulent bouquet that does not quite convey its terroir with the same aplomb as say, the Phelan-Ségur. It translates more of the winemaking than the terroir. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, crisp acidity and quite an elegant finish. It is in the second half of this wine that the quality of the vintage shows through. Hopefully the aromatics will gain more composure and it will live up to the finish it currently displays. One to watch.Inc. GSTSG$597.28 -

The 2020 Le Boscq still has that expressive, overtly floral bouquet with bunches of pressed violet infusing the black cherry and boysenberry fruit. Quite powerful and seductive. Full deep red. Alluring aromas of raspberry, coffee, brown spices and nutty oak. Lush, fruity and sweet; holds its shape nicely through to the firm, ripe finish. A very good sample.
One to watch. In BondSG$445.00 -

(12x37.5cl) 2019Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)
The 2019 Le Boscq is fabulous. A rush of wild cherry, smoke, licorice, tobacco, incense and scorched earth races across the palate. This deep, flavorful Saint-Estèphe is wonderfully expressive today. I would give the tannins a few years to soften. Le Boscq is a great choice for readers who want to explore the appellation without splurging on some of the bigger names. In BondSG$220.00 -

The 2020 Le Boscq still has that expressive, overtly floral bouquet with bunches of pressed violet infusing the black cherry and boysenberry fruit. Quite powerful and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, touches of black olive, fine depth with a slightly chewy finish that would benefit from a little more delineation and finesse. But I like this sturdy Saint-Estèphe and it should cellar well for a decade. In BondSG$237.00 -

The 2021 Le Boscq is fabulous. Rich, heady and super-expressive, the 2021 offers exquisite aromatic intensity allied to deep, pliant fruit, all in an earthy/savory style that captures the essence of Saint-Estèphe. Best of all, Le Boscq should be a screaming value. In BondSG$389.00 -

A classic Saint-Estèphe, the 2022 Château Le Boscq reveals darker fruits, leafy herbs, tobacco, and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied, it has pure, fine tannins, terrific balance, and a rounded, supple mouthfeel. Aged in oak barrels, this should drink well for 15+ years. In BondSG$202.00 -

Full deep red. Alluring aromas of raspberry, coffee, brown spices and nutty oak. Lush, fruity and sweet; holds its shape nicely through to the firm, ripe finish. A very good sample. My sample of the '98 was impressively dense and lush, but showed a distinctly oxidized raisiny quality; I assume this example was not representative. Judgement deferred. In BondSG$1,050.00 -
(12x75cl) 1998Chateau Le Moulin 1998 is an exquisitely crafted Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, hailing from the reputable winemaking region of Bordeaux, France. The 2005 Le Moulin is an attractive, mid-weight, yet full mature Pomerol. Sweet dried cherry, herbs, mint, anise and worn-in leather open nicely. I would prefer to finish any remaining bottles sooner rather than later. Le Moulin is not super complex, but it is delicious and has aged well.In BondSG$1,010.00
