Burghound (93)
Once again there is a sufficient amount of reduction to warrant a thorough aeration. By contrast there is a lovely vibrancy and freshness in the mouth with plenty of sauvage character present on the velvety and caressing big-bodied and muscular flavors that coat the mouth thanks to the abundance of dry extract that also serves to buffer the very firm tannins on the moderately austere, serious and hugely long finish. As good as this is though it's not clear at this very early juncture whether it will ultimately surpass the Bressandes. Still, both possess outstanding development potential and are of first-rate quality.Inc. GSTSG$2,859.03 -

The 2015 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru is a magical wine in the making, opening in the glass with a deep and brooding bouquet of cherries, plum preserve, espresso roast, rich soil, dark chocolate and dried rose petals. On the palate, the wine is incredibly complete and multidimensional, with an ample chassis of fine-grained, chalky tannins, a bright line of acidity, and immense concentration and length. More deep and layered than the Corton Bressandes, this Clos du Roi is also finer-boned and more mineral, its aromas and flavors less wild and sauvage, and while the wine's considerable structure will demand a decade of bottle age, this will be a benchmark Corton in the fullness of time.Inc. The 2018 Corton Clos-du-Roi Grand Cru was the standout when I assessed the 2018s out of barrel; now, in bottle, I have no reason to alter that view. Displaying spellbinding delineation and clarity on the nose, this articulates the terroir extremely well, offering precise red fruit mixed with crushed rock/flinty aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, unerring purity and a silky texture that lingers long in the mouth. Feel that salinity tingling on the tongue after the wine has departed. Medium red. Very ripe, fresh, nuanced nose melds red cherry, raspberry, rose petal and earth, plus a whiff of caramel. Rich, sappy and vibrant, with a firm mineral spine contributing to the impression of delicacy and inner-mouth energy. Dense but not at all weighty. Impeccably balanced wine, finishing with subtle persistence and a palate-saturating dusting of ripe, fine tannins. A rare Burgundy steal at this price.Inc. GSTSG$267.68 -

(80% vendange entier Bright, deep, saturated red. Sweet, nuanced aromas of redcurrant, cherry, chocolate and smoky minerality, lifted by a floral element. Sweet and creamy but juicy in the mouth; a rather muscular Corton, but with the breadth of the vintage in spades. Still, both possess outstanding development potential and are of first-rate quality. In BondSG$2,520.00 -

More deep and layered than the Corton Bressandes, this Clos du Roi is also finer-boned and more mineral, its aromas and flavors less wild and sauvage, and while the wine's considerable structure will demand a decade of bottle age, this will be a benchmark Corton in the fullness of time.In BondSG$2,065.00 -

Pure, unadulterated Pinoté!In BondSG$2,615.00 -

A rare Burgundy steal at this price. In BondSG$237.00 -

Really spreads out to saturate the palate on the finish, with plenty of ripe tannins to see it through a decade or two of development. In BondSG$2,165.00 -

Moderately saturated medium red. Initially smelled like a white wine, with its wild mint and citrus peel scents, then opened to reveal cherry, raspberry and red licorice. Densely packed and utterly seamless, with a restrained sweetness and excellent energy to the tactile, lightly saline middle palate. Conveys a strong impression of solidity without any excess weight. With its perfectly integrated acidity, this grand cru really stimulates the taste buds on the superb, rising finish. Should age a long time.In BondSG$998.00 -

Medium red. Deep perfume of black cherry and flowers. Dense, tactile and savory; broader-shouldered than the Marechaudes, showing more soil-driven mineral, crushed stone and moist earth character. Deep and quite dry. Not fleshy today but very imploded. Offers excellent potential. In BondSG$1,415.00 -

(50% vendange entier): Medium red. Black cherry and cranberry fruit aromas show an almost candied quality, with spice and stone nuances providing lift. Dark fruits perked up by white pepper and minerals on the intense palate. Finishes with pronounced minerality, excellent length and no hardness. I would not be surprised if this very precise wine shut down in the bottle. In BondSG$1,460.00 -

Full, dark red. Urgent primary red fruit and sandalwood aromas suggest a distinctly exotic carbonic maceration quality that reminded me of Beaujolais. More classic on the palate: broad, spicy and dry, with superb aromatic perfume to the flavors of red fruits, earth and crushed stone. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a captivating light touch. In BondSG$1,790.00 -

The 2016 Corton Bressandes Grand Cru is also showing extremely well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis, ripe plums, dark chocolate, dried flowers and spices. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a deep, layered core, succulent balancing acids and a long, intense and beautifully soil-driven finish. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare, this is an exceptional Bressandes that will be well worth seeking out.In BondSG$1,310.00 -

The 2017 Corton Bressandes Grand Cru is lovely, wafting from the glass with notes of dark fruits, nori, licorice, rich soil, blood orange, rose hip and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny, its fine-grained tannins largely concealed in a gourmand core of succulent fruit, concluding with a saline, mineral finish. Long on complexity and character, this is a terrific Corton Bressandes. In BondSG$202.00 -

The 2018 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru comes from four parcels of vines, totaling 1.5 hectares, on the mid-slope. Slightly deeper in color than the Les Maréchaudes, it has more depth and complexity on the nose, the blackberry, raspberry, wild hedgerow and damp-earthy, mossy aromas soaring from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins, and smoother and silkier than the Les Maréchaudes, leading to a sensual, pure, caressing finish. A gorgeous 2018 from Chardonnay des Briailles. In BondSG$221.00 -

The 2019 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is deeper in color compared with the Les Maréchaudes. The well-defined bouquet features cranberry and wild strawberry scents intermixed with wilted rose petal and sous-bois, delicate yet paradoxically intense. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, and fleshier than the Maréchaudes; the stem addition here seems more enmeshed. Just beautiful. In BondSG$228.00
