Deep red-ruby. Reticent but pure aromas of dark fruits, smoked meat, minerals, pepper and sexy oak, plus a whiff of garrigue. Concentrated, aromatic and sweet, with enticing herbal and peppery lift to the dark fruit and licorice flavors. Not as fleshy as the Beaux Monts but very pure, scented and long. The 2009 Chapelle-Chambertin has come together beautifully since I last tasted it about six months ago. The personality of Chapelle is now beginning to emerge, as is the case with so many grand crus in this vintage. As beautiful and expressive as the fruit is today, there is also more than enough supporting structure to provide balance and a sense of harmony. I very much like the intensity and sheer personality of the Chapelle in 2009. Tremblay used 100% stems here.Inc. GSTSG$4,103.74 -

(from 90-year-old vines; 50% new oak; Tremblay uses Troncais oak for this and the Beaumonts, as she likes the vanilla quality it adds to these cuvees): Good fresh ruby-red. Complex nose blends black cherry, blueberry, licorice, spices and bitter chocolate; slightly liqueur-like. Then lush, broad and sweet; really quite voluptuous and velvety, with the chocolatey character following through on the palate. Fine-grained tannins will not get in the way of enjoying this layered, deep wine within four or five years after bottling, but it has the stuffing and supporting minerality for a long life in bottle. These vines were picked on September 23.Inc. GSTSG$4,365.34 -

(vinified almost entirely with whole clusters): Bright, dark red. Musky reduction to the aromas of black raspberry, mocha, animal fur and spices. Juicy, cool and penetrating but tightly wound; boasts superb material and inner-mouth tension but this very pure wine is extremely primary in the early going. The strong spine of tannins will require extended aging but this sharply delineated wine should be a beauty a decade hence.Inc. GSTSG$7,609.01 -

The 2015 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has an understated, pretty, quite mineral-driven bouquet; light rose petal and iris scents develop in the glass. The palate is very well balanced, offering edgy tannin, crisp red fruit (red cherry and cranberry) and an almost symmetrical, live-wire finish that is pure class. (3x75cl) 2016Wine Advocate (95)
The 2016 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru was the first vintage farmed with biodynamic methods, and Tremblay pruned in April to avoid frost; however, the pruning wounds bled and the sap frosted, resulting in just as much damage to the buds as if she had pruned earlier. Farming is never simple! Exhibiting aromas of wild plums, rich berries, spices, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones, it's full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit and a charming, giving but serious profile. Less dramatic than the fleshier, richer 2015, the 2016 is a brilliant wine in a different register.Inc. GSTSG$9,456.56 -

Always the best-looking grapes along with the Feusselottes, notes Tremblay. In BondSG$15,040.00 -

Tremblay used 100% stems here.In BondSG$3,755.00 -
(1x75cl) 2010Vinous (92-95)
These vines were picked on September 23.In BondSG$3,995.00 -
(3x75cl) 2013Vinous (93)
(vinified almost entirely with whole clusters): Bright, dark red. Musky reduction to the aromas of black raspberry, mocha, animal fur and spices. Juicy, cool and penetrating but tightly wound; boasts superb material and inner-mouth tension but this very pure wine is extremely primary in the early going. The strong spine of tannins will require extended aging but this sharply delineated wine should be a beauty a decade hence. In BondSG$6,955.00 -
(2x75cl) 2014Vinous (93+)
Medium red. Musky aromas of black raspberry and crushed rock. Concentrated, creamy and fresh, offering serious intensity to its dense raspberry and mineral flavors. Bright acidity contributes to the impression of inner-mouth tension and cut. The tannins are present but quite fine on the long, firm finish, which offers terrific floral lift. This superb wine reminded me of a 1999 in style. In BondSG$4,000.00 -

Superb - and the plus sign indicates my view that it will improve in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. In BondSG$2,770.00 -
(3x75cl) 2016Wine Advocate (95)
The 2016 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru was the first vintage farmed with biodynamic methods, and Tremblay pruned in April to avoid frost; however, the pruning wounds bled and the sap frosted, resulting in just as much damage to the buds as if she had pruned earlier. Farming is never simple! Exhibiting aromas of wild plums, rich berries, spices, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones, it's full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit and a charming, giving but serious profile. Less dramatic than the fleshier, richer 2015, the 2016 is a brilliant wine in a different register. In BondSG$8,650.00 -

The 2017 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru offers up a complex bouquet of cassis, plums, sweet spices, grilled squab and savory base notes. On the palate, it's deep, dense and full-bodied, with the most concentration and substance of any wine in the cellar, framed by fine structuring tannins and concluding with a long finish. In contrast to the expansive Echézeaux, the Chapelle-Chambertin is tighter-knit and more focused. Tremblay's vines are located in lieu-dit Les Gémeaux, next to the holdings of Domaine Claude Dugat. In BondSG$2,595.00 -

The 2018 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is exceedingly pure on the nose, offering black cherries, bergamot and touches of pomegranate and wonderful mineralité; it’s actually not unlike the Chapelle-Chambertin from Dugat in style. The palate is well balanced with fine-grained tannins. Not a voluptuous Chapelle-Chambertin, but full of nervosité, with a lightly spiced and very persistent finish. Superb. In BondSG$2,660.00 -
