The only issue with the 2008 vintage is that it is surrounded by years that yielded more overt Barolos, specifically 2006 and 2010. This bottle offers enormous complexity coupled by power and linear, classic lines. Maceration stopped at 20 days, otherwise the winemaking team feared the results would be overdone and too bold. The bouquet opens quickly to reveal dark fruit, spice, anise seed and licorice. The effect is ethereal and lasting.
