(12x75cl) 2016Wine Advocate (89)
Raised entirely in stainless steel, the 2016 Saint-Véran was showing very well, wafting from the glass with notes of lemon oil, honeysuckle and pastry cream. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and powerful, with succulent underlying acidity, concluding with a stony, saline finish. Cropped at a mere 12 hectoliters per hectare, it nevertheless remains quite classical in profile—there's simply somewhat more flesh and concentration than usual.Inc. GSTSG$385.64 -
James Suckling (92-93)
A linear and polished young red with compact, silky tannins that are polished and beautiful. Lots of blackberry, blackcurrant, mushroom and spice character. Very solid wine from here.Inc. GSTSG$360.70 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (87-89)
The 2021 Croix-Mouton offers good depth to match its savory personality. Tobacco, cedar, menthol, licorice and dried herbs are front and center. There is some edginess in the tannin that hopefully will soften with élevage.Inc. GSTSG$220.62 -

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (88-90)
The 2021 Sénéjac opens with strong Cabernet inflections. Deep and also quite sturdy, Sénéjac is promising. Pipe tobacco, cedar, mint, spice and dried herbs linger on the somewhat rustic finish. Let's see how this comes together.Inc. GSTSG$190.16 -
(12x75cl) 2020Vinous - Neal Martin (91)
The 2020 Rahoul Blanc has an attractive nose of Golden Delicious, lime cordial and light nectarine scents. This has vigor and focus. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity. Great tension here, not amazingly complex but I appreciate the manner in which this builds towards the citrus, almost yuzu like finish. Very fine.Inc. GSTSG$400.90 -
(6x150cl) 2018Jeb Dunnuck (90-92)
Juicy berry fruits, leafy herbs, and earthy notes emerge from the 2018 Château Mauvesin Barton, and it’s medium-bodied, nicely textured, and elegant, with both nicely integrated acidity and tannins. It shines from its balance and freshness, yet still has the sunny fruit of the vintage.Inc. GSTSG$395.58 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (86)
The 2019 Croix-Mouton has a more refined and understated nose compared to previous vintages, featuring delicate blackberry, briary and undergrowth scents. The palate is sharp on the entry with a slight bitterness, moderate depth and a little hardness on the finish.Inc. GSTSG$228.25 -
(6x150cl) 2019Vinous - Neal Martin (91)
The 2019 Fourcas Hosten offers plenty of juicy ripe red berry fruit on the nose, which is more forward than the 2019 Clarke. Red plum and mulberry develop with aeration, along with a touch of black currant pastilles and even a light confit scent. The palate is medium-bodied with a grippy entry, a slightly granular texture and a fine bead of acidity, though at the moment it feels a little hemmed in on the finish. I suspect that this may close down in bottle, but it has the substance to age well. Also, at 13.3% on the label, this is one of the lower-alcohol Left Bank wines.Inc. GSTSG$408.53 -
Wine Enthusiast (91)
Formerly the property of one of Napoleon's generals, this estate is now performing impressively after renovations. This wine is richly structured and packed with black fruits. Dark tannins vie with black currants and ripe spice in this wine that will age well. Drink from 2024.Inc. GSTSG$299.16 -
(6x150cl) 2019Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)
Bernard Magrez's 2019 Les Grands Chênes is seriously impressive. Deep, layered and complex, the 2019 is full of character. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, mint, new leather, licorice, cedar and iron all take shape in the glass. The long creamy finish. There is a lot of wine here, especially for the money. In a word: fabulous!Inc. GSTSG$411.80 -
(6x75cl) 2023Jeb Dunnuck (88-90)
Deep ruby/plum-hued, the 2023 Château Beaumont offers up a beautiful nose of red and black currants, leafy herbs, spice, and a hint of flowers. It's balanced, medium-bodied, has some classy, chocolaty oak, and ripe tannins. A rock solid Haut-Médoc, it has outstanding potential, if not a tad more.Inc. GSTSG$202.09 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)
The 2019 Mauvesin Barton is gorgeous. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, tobacco, mint and spice lend nuance to this gracious, beautifully lifted Moulis. The 2019 is understated yet wonderfully expressive and very tasty.Inc. GSTSG$413.07 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (88-90)
The 2021 Dutruch Grand Poujeaux has an attractive, well-defined bouquet of blackberry, cedar and light tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, and a little attenuated on the finish, but I appreciate the freshness and vitality.Inc. GSTSG$422.70 -
Wine Advocate (91-93)
The 2020 Carlmagnus has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and vivacious scents of redcurrant jelly, ripe black plums and boysenberries, plus hints of iron ore, black truffles, lavender and cracked black pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate fills the mouth with intense red and black fruit layers, supported by ripe, rounded tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and earthy.Inc. GSTSG$418.34 -
(6x75cl) 2020Vinous - Neal Martin (87-89)
The 2020 Cap de Faugères is a bit jammy on the nose, though the black cherry and blueberry fruit is pure, becoming a little confit in style. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannins and good acidity, though it needs a little more cohesion toward the finish. Hopefully it will gain harmony and flesh during its barrel maturation, because it does offer a pleasant salinity.Inc. GSTSG$204.27 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (89)
The 2012 Fourcas Hosten has more definition and focus than the 2011, offering higher-toned and more vivacious black fruit laced with cedar and crushed stone. There is something almost Pauillac-like about this Listrac. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and well-judged acidity. It firms up toward the fresh finish, which has just the right amount of dryness and grip and an appealing marine tinge. This is worth seeking out.Inc. GSTSG$391.31 -
James Suckling (92-93)
Very pretty with pure cassis and sliced orange character. Medium body, fine tannins and a polished finish. Balanced and fresh. Some stone and salty undertones. 64% merlot, 28% cabernet sauvignon and 8% carmenere.Inc. GSTSG$417.25 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (93)
The 2018 Sergant, which impressed from barrel, has a captivating bouquet of precise black cherry, wild strawberry and rose petal aromas that waft from the glass. The palate is well balanced with fine-grained tannins, a silky-smooth texture and beautifully integrated oak toward the finish. This is a top-quality Lalande de Pomerol, a bit of a hidden gem. Go seek!Inc. GSTSG$182.49 -
James Suckling (91-92)
A creamy and velvety red with redcurrants and spices. Some tobacco, too. Medium and juicy. 53% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 6% petit verdot and 1% cabernet franc.Inc. GSTSG$441.23 -
Decanter (94)
Super expressive on the nose, white peach, pear, lime, apricot and pineapple - smells lively and fresh. Really round and unctuous on the palate, more sombre in terms of outright acidity but this has a lovely, well framed structure with honeyed fruit, quince, apricot and fleshy white peach Certainly a gourmet style, with some hints of bitter lemon too to give nuance and complexity. A great combination of aromatic intensity from the Sauvignon Gris and Semillon with freshness and verve from the Sauvignon Blanc. Charming and characterful. Lovely. One to enjoy now or keep in the cellar to age. A blend of 50% Semillon, 45% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Sauvignon Gris.Inc. GSTSG$262.04 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89-91)
The 2020 Chantegrive is quite expressive in this tasting. Raspberry jam, gravel, savory herbs and pencil shavings abound. Powerful and driving in the glass, with tons of backing energy, the 2020 is a terrific wine in the making.Inc. GSTSG$431.42 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (91)
The 2020 Haut-Chaigneau represents a fine Lalande-de-Pomerol. Black plums commingle with leather and pencil lead scents that is well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely sappiness on the entry, impressive depth and commendable balance. That Cabernet Franc imparts an attractive pencil lead tincture on the finish that gives it a Left Bank allure. This has kicked on nicely through its élevage and deserves a higher score than I gave from barrel.Inc. GSTSG$435.78 -
James Suckling (92-93)
A firm, chewy red with blackberry and light coffee character. Medium to full body. Solid structure.Inc. GSTSG$418.47 -

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)
The 2018 Lestage Simon has a ripe, quite opulent but focused bouquet of mainly red fruit (strawberry and raspberry), floral tones and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent, fleshy opening, but there is also satisfying structure and grip to this Haut-Médoc. Blood orange lingers on the aftertaste. Very fine.Inc. GSTSG$248.96 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (88-90)
The 2020 Rollan de By is redolent of inky dark blue fruit, lavender, spice, licorice, lavender, dried herbs and menthol. There is good depth and resonance, even if the tannins are a bit burly.Inc. GSTSG$418.47 -
(12x75cl) 2017Wine Advocate (91-93)
A blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Montlandrie gives up notes of crushed black plums, red currants and black cherries with suggestions of cigar box, yeast extract, tapenade and underbrush. Medium-bodied with a solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins, it has beautiful freshness and a mineral-tinged finish.Inc. GSTSG$421.66 -
Vinous - Ian D'Agata (86-88)
Deep ruby-red. Perfumed mineral and cassis aromas. Bright and juicy on the palate, with very good ripeness to the black berry, cedar and floral flavors. Richer and deeper than usual.Inc. GSTSG$395.63 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (87)
The 2017 Fourcas Hosten is admittedly a bit of a comedown after the high point of the previous vintage. This is much more introverted and earthy on the nose, missing the fruité of the 2016. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins and modest depth, but as before, I still find the finish rather dry.Inc. GSTSG$419.65
