Diageo Scotch Whisky En Primeur 2022
We are delighted to launch our Diageo Scotch Whisky En Primeur 2022 campaign. We have been working ever more closely with Diageo and this year have secured allocations of four great distilleries (plus additional releases from other partners). Buying Scotch whisky en primeur makes sense for the same reason as it does in fine wine: it is the best way to secure an allocation (buyers will be given first refusal for future releases) and it is the most cost effective way to buy!

Founded in 1871 as “The Great Distillery of Inchgower” near the fly fishing haven of Buckie on the River Spey, Inchgower is a true Blue-Blood of Speyside. Small scale by owners Diageo’s standards, the spirit running off of Inchgower’s stills is remarkably hard to find in official bottlings. Once a popular member of the Flora & Fauna stable it has been sadly discontinued and independent bottlings remain the prime outlet for this refined Speysider.
While Auchroisk shows notes of fresh-cut grass, Inchgower’s aromatic profile is more reminiscent of dried hay; red apple rather than green and summer flowers rather than spring blossoms. Its complexity is what has earned it a central role in the world famous Bell’s blended scotch whisky alongside stablemate Blair Athol and as it matures, that complexity comes in with unique elements of aniseed and even turmeric.
Best aged in Bourbon but no slouch in Sherry wood either, this is a versatile spirit and one that has shown it can fetch admirable prices when bottled at an advanced age. We expect the discontinuation of the Flora & Fauna bottling coupled with the success of Indy icons such as That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Càrn Mor and Douglas Laing give this cask ample scope for value appreciation in the medium to long term.

If you’ve ever seen a postcard of a Scottish fishing village, chances are it was Tobermory. The iconic village on the cost of the fabled Isle of Mull, is known for its colourful waterfront and picturesque fleet of fishing and pleasure craft in its ancient harbour.
The village and the isle is picturesque for sure and has a rich history of sunken Spanish treasure, Viking raiders and some of the earliest Gaelic-speaking arrivals to Scotland. It is only fitting that one of the most beloved distilleries in the country is located here; the eponymous Tobermory Distillery.
Best known for their gentle Island spirit, closers in style to Scapa and lighter Northern Islay malts, Tobermory is a gloriously pleasurable whisky, highly sought after by collectors and with a dedicated core of devotees. On the cask market, it proves as elusive as the galleon's treasure in Tobermory Bay.In BondSG$6,570.00 -

The Braeval distillery is located in Banffshire within the Speyside region and is one of the key components of the top blended bottlings of the Chivas Regal stable of whiskies, including the world-class Chivas Regal 25YO which scored 95.5 points from the Whisky Bible.
As a single malt the distillery is almost entirely represented by independent bottlings and these are gaining in prestige and success of late.
Chivas did bottle a special edition under their “Secret Collection” which they use to shine a light on the malts behind their blends. The 30 Year Old Braes of Glenlivet (from before the name change) currently sells for over £500 per bottle while other indie labels can reach similar prices.
Further more, the volume in the cask is not quite the whole story. At such a strong ABV one could dilute to a still formidable strength in the 50s and realise many more bottles. For instance, at 55% this cask would yield 363 bottles, while bottling above the non-chill filtered strength of 46% would see 434, bringing the cost per bottle down considerably (£33 per bottle) which could be a wise course of action with an intensely sherried whisky. In BondSG$8,780.00 -

Founded in 1852 by Thomas MacKenzie and formerly known as the Dailuaine-Glenlivet Distillery, despite a location closer to Aberlour than the famed Glen of the River Livet, Dailuaine is a superb Speyside distillery, instantly recognisable for its iconic pagoda turrets so quintessential to the late 19th Century works of distillery architect Charles Doig.
More than 170 years later, Dailuaine finds itself at a crossroads in its existence, one with immense potential and a very bright future ahead. As the company looks to its malt distilleries to drive brand development, Dailuaine is poised for rediscovery as a world-class single malt. Gaining recognition as one of the iconic Flora & Fauna range alongside the likes of Mortlach and Blair Athol among many others, it is one of the most distinctive Speysides in the Diageo portfolio and a warming, feisty malt.
A malt which has long been treated as a sherry bomb, it truly needs no help from overactive wood and indeed often rebels against all but the most rigorously selected sherry wood. Performing best in casks with a lighter touch, these refill hogsheads will afford them the best long-term potential. The discontinuation of the Flora & Fauna bottling coupled with the building success of selective indy bottlers putting excellent examples into the market means it is only a matter of time before Diageo realises what they're sitting on and gives Dailuaine its own opportunity.

Located in Alness on the northern shore of the Cromarty Firth, north of Inverness, Teaninich was founded in 1817 by Hugh Munro and is one of the earliest legally licensed distilleries in Scotland. The distillery is currently owned by Diageo and used to produce components for their blended whiskies. Unlike most other distilleries, only one official bottling has ever been released by Diageo, leaving independent bottlers as the main source of Teaninich bottles on the market.
Teaninich is known for using a mash filter press instead of a mash tun, a unique feature that results in a clean and grassy flavour profile with light hints of vanilla.
