From 80- to 100-year-old vines, the 2021 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese Rotlay is deep, pure and flinty on the aromatic and rather coolish, elegant nose that shows ripe white peach aromas intertwined with spicy notes of crushed blue slate. Full-bodied, pure and saline on the palate, this is a rich yet crystalline and piquant rather than textured Riesling with fine tannins and still some yeasty layers and a certain grapefruit bitterness on the finish. Tasted as a sample at the domaine in July 2022.Inc. GSTSG$528.00 -

Fermented in glass balloon for 22 months and bottled at the end of August this year, the 2018 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese is highly concentrated yet pure and spicy/stony on the apricot-scented nose that is enormously detailed and refined for this class. Enormously rich and juicy-piquant on the palate, this is a fantastically precise and stimulating TBA that will become a legend years from now. This is a perfectly balanced noble sweet wine with unreal precision. Picked with 201° Oechsle and bottled with nearly 7% alcohol, 318 grams of residual sugar and 11.5 grams of total acidity. Tasted from AP 22 20 in September 2020.Inc. GSTSG$4,170.06 -

One year after release, the 2020 Vogelsang Grosse Lage sourced from my private cellar opens with a delicate and subtle bouquet of ripe yet refined Riesling and savory flinty notes of crushed gray and red slate. It is very subtle and harmonious, and despite its natural ripeness, it is also precise, detailed and very well articulated. Very intense and rich on the palate, this is a generous and very complex yet crystalline and thus refined and elegant Vogelsang Riesling with a long, intense and super complex finish. It's deeper, finer and richer than the 2021, as well as more intense, and its finish is very long, physical, intense and saline. If I am not at 100/100 today, this is because I know it will improve and refine from here over the years in the bottle. It has a very long and stimulating finish with so much on board that you think it can never get old. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in September 2024.Inc. GSTSG$798.71 -

Basket pressed and vinified in traditional oak and stainless steel, the 2020 Vogelsang Kabinett is pure, bright and fresh on the highly delicate and flinty nose that shows precise and elegant fruit intertwined with the serious, flinty minerality of the gray and red slate soils of the domaine plus coolish vegetal nuances of nettles and mint. Round and intense yet light and filigreed on the palate, this is a pure, lush and round yet also very mineral, beautifully playful and palate-tickling Kabinett with less reduction than Molitor's Kabinetts usually show at this early stage. The sweetness is discreet and counterpointed by the immense mineral and saline drive. The finish is spectacularly long and tensioned, extremely complex and stimulating even at this age. This classic Kabinett reminds me of finest Scharzhofberger Kabinetts from Egon Müller. It is straight, sustainably saline, aromatic and charming. 10.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2023.Inc. GSTSG$392.17 -

Showing its age with tarry spice and dark fruit tones, the Sijnn 2015 Malgas Red reflects an earlier chapter in the estate’s evolution. The blend of Syrah, Tinta Amarela, Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Mourvèdre does not include Grenache, and after a decade in bottle, the wine presents a more evolved and weightier profile with deeper, darker edges. There is richness and maturity here, with tertiary notes emerging and tannins softening into a broader frame. This vintage predates the stylistic refinement seen in more recent releases, marking a clear step forward in subsequent years.Inc. GSTSG$775.95 -
