Saint Prefert
Domaine Saint Prefert is a truly modern winery in a deeply traditional region. Approaching the building itself, one is immediately struck by the sheer avante-garde nature of the architecture. However the domaine itself is in no way a recent player on the stage in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. One of the first producers in the 1930s to make the leap out of the local market and into fine wine consciousness around the world.
Fast-froward to the present, under the guiding hand of Isabel Ferrando, Saint Prefert is one of the regions fastest rising stars and annually produces some very fine and long-lived wines indeed. Structured and elegant with many years ahead of it, the 2012 vintage was a great success at Saint Prefert, outperforming many of its more illustrious neighbours. This is a wine with easily another 10-15 years ahead of it and will reward careful cellaring.

Just about perfection in a glass, the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape Reserve Auguste Favier reveals a deep purple color as well as extraordinary notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, smoked meats, incense, and dried flowers. Always based on Grenache yet with 10-15% Cinsault, this full-bodied, deep, opulent Châteauneuf Du Pape tastes like the essence of Provence, is incredibly complex, has sweet tannins, and despite all its richness and depth, stays pure, fresh, and light on its feet. It’s one of the finest vintages of this cuvée to date!Inc. GSTSG$616.33 -
Vinous (95)
Limpid ruby-red. A highly complex, mineral-accented bouquet displays Chambord, incense and baking spice qualities, and a suave floral nuance builds with air. Stains the palate with lively, sharply delineated red berry liqueur, lavender and spicecake flavors braced by a core of juicy acidity. In a vibrant style, finishing spicy and very long, leaving notes of candied flowers behind.Inc. GSTSG$481.15
