Wine Advocate (93)
This wine shows beautiful results in this vintage. Nebbiolo loves a long growing season, and that's exactly what it got in this year. The 2013 Barolo Cannubi is a delicately nuanced wine with blue flower aromas of violets and pressed rose followed by dried berry, spice, licorice and white truffle. You'll really enjoy those unique Cannubi aromatic characteristics in this balanced and elegant wine.Inc. GSTSG$1,313.93 -
Vinous (92)
The 2015 Barolo Cannubi is a very pretty wine. Sweet floral, tobacco and cedar notes are all beautifully lifted in this expressive, mid-weight wine. It would be nice to see a little more freshness, but all things considered, the 2015 is very nicely done, especially within the context of the year.Inc. GSTSG$1,907.98 -
Vinous (88-90)
Medium color. Fruit driven aromas of plum, raspberry, licorice, pepper, mint and earth. Tight and high pitched; primary and backward, with moderate ripeness. Seems rather high in acidity.Inc. GSTSG$1,221.28 -
Vinous (90+)
Good ruby-red color. Deep, highly aromatic nose combines crystallized cherry, roasted meat, violet, cinnamon, tobacco, eucalyptus and underbrush. Juicy but still rather tight, even tart-edged, with a restrained sweetness. Rather dominated by its acidity today, but already offers enticing inner-mouth perfume of black cherry and violet. Slow-building, long finish suggests that this firmly structured, sharply delineated Barolo will develop well with six to eight years of bottle aging.Inc. GSTSG$1,296.45 -
Wine Advocate (94)
The 2013 Barolo Cerequio is a wine of deep, underlying power, grit and determination. The wine opens to black fruit and earthy overtones with sticky tar, licorice and crushed river stone. Surprisingly, the primary fruit is not a protagonist. Instead, the wine offers a smoky and evolved personality that comes as a pleasant surprise. You can taste the youth of the wine, however, on the palate. The nervous tannins need time to integrate and soften.Inc. GSTSG$1,064.32 -
Vinous (88)
The 2017 Barolo Cerequio is a powerful, dark wine. Black cherry, mocha, leather, cloves and licorice bring out darker shades of Nebbiolo character. Huge tannins clamp down on the finish, limiting the wine's expressiveness. This is an especially brooding wine from Cerequio, a site where Barolos tend to be more finessed.Inc. GSTSG$1,105.74 -
Vinous (90)
The 2018 Barolo Cerequio is an attractive mid-weight wine. Dark red/cherry plum fruit, mocha, leather, spice and incense all grace this supple, silky Barolo. There's lovely creaminess and plenty of allure in this tasty Barolo from Michele Chiarlo.Inc. GSTSG$831.06 -
Vinous (89)
The 2019 Barolo Tortoniano is a fine entry-level offering from Chiarlo. Sweet dried cherry, tobacco, cedar, dried flowers, mint and orange peel are nicely lifted on this mid-weight Barolo. Open in its flavors, with a good deal of complexity, the 2019 comes across as a wine to drink over the next handful of years, but not more.Inc. GSTSG$856.09
