The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru comes from 0.30-hectare in the Montluisants area supplemented by some purchased fruit from 72-year-old vines in the lieu-dit Les Chenevrières. It has a very pure and powerful bouquet with layers of small dark cherries, blueberry and violet aromas, a little richness of the growing season showing through via a touch of glycerin. (1x75cl) 2019Vinous (94-96)
The 2019 Clos de La Roche Grand Cru contains 80% whole bunches this year and underwent just a couple of punch-downs. There is a tiny amount of reduction on the nose as I taste it, gradually opening to reveal raspberry, blackcurrant and violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins matched with a very fine bead of acidity. This is a very cohesive and refined Grand Cru with a lilting, carefree finish that belies its inherent complexity and persistent. Easy to under-estimate this, I am sure it will age with style. In BondSG$380.00 -

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)
80% whole bunch. Really intense black colour with a purple rim. The bouquet does not want to speak quite yet. A little bit of wood, a light herbaceous note from the stems which departs rapidly, but the promise of such intensity. Morello cherries? A crackling freshness on the palate, mineral threads, a superb and classic texture, huge weight. Everything is there. Tasted: December 2021In BondSG$1,980.00 -
(6x75cl) 2021Vinous (95-97)
The 2021 Clos-de-la-Roche Grand Cru contains 80% whole bunches. It has a beautifully delineated and focused bouquet with blackberry, briary, wet limestone and a hint of juniper. It seems to grow with several swirls of the glass. The palate is very well-balanced with fine tannins that frame the sinewy red fruit, laced with white pepper and orange rind. It fans out wonderfully on the finish whilst retaining the class you expect from such a noble climat. This is deeply impressive even without its challenging context. In BondSG$2,200.00 -
(3x150cl) 2022Burghound (94)
(from a .72 ha holding; 50% whole cluster). Here too there is just a whiff of reduction that also stops short of overshadowing the ripe and beautifully layered aromas that are composed by notes of poached plum and a variety of spice elements. I very much like the texture of the delicious medium-bodied flavors that, even if not especially dense, still possess good power and minerality while delivering excellent depth and length on the balanced bitter pit fruit finish that really fans out as it sits on the palate. Excellent. In BondSG$2,285.00 -

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96-98)
5 Star Wine. Ruby purple, with a fine concentration of dark red fruit picked at optimum ripeness. The whole bunches (90%) give a further lift to the nose, while what starts well in bouquet really gains ground on the palate. Everything is perfectly in place, a really striking Clos de la Roche with a suave middle ground and long, perfectly balanced finish. As always, this is a vineyard built for ageing. Making me smile! And the best news – there are 13 barrels! Drink from 2033-2045. Tasted Nov 2024.In BondSG$2,265.00 -
Vinous (89)
Bright, moderately saturated medium red. Very ripe, complex nose combines raspberry, mocha and mineral notes with suggestions of exotic fruits. Plush and seamless in the mouth, conveying a restrained sweetness and considerable early charm. Finishes classically dry, with inviting soil tones and ripe tannins. In BondSG$603.00 -

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis En La Rue de Vergy has an edgy red cherry nose with noticeable scents of autumn leaves/sous-bois. The palate is quite chalky in texture with touches of cocoa on the finish that I feel a bit too abrupt. In BondSG$416.00 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis En La Rue de Vergy, comes from 50-year-old vines and is blended with 70% whole bunches. It has an intense nose, a mélange of red/black fruit, hints of kirsch and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with shimmering red berry fruit, a fine bead of acidity, silky smooth with a surfeit of tension on the finish. What is not to like about this Morey-Saint-Denis? Very little. In BondSG$810.00 -
Vinous (88-90)
The 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis en la Rue de Vergy is quite high-toned on the nose: macerated black cherries, hints of black olive and light marine scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, quite compact towards the finish where I am just looking for a little more depth and flesh. Hopefully, it will fatten out a bit.In BondSG$141.00 -

Vinous (89-91)
The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis en la Rue de Vergy, including around two-thirds whole bunches, has a well-defined bouquet. The stems are fairly noticeable at present, though that will be soaked up by the fruit with time. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy, fine tannins. The 2021 is harmonious and quite crunchy; blackberry commingles with tar and subtle tobacco notes towards its satisfying finish. Good potential, but patience required. In BondSG$481.00
